Welcome to Owl About Yarn. I love to play with yarn and fibre, dyeing, spinning, knitting and the occasional bit of crochet. I equally enjoy hand dyeing yarn, designing knitting patterns and of course combining the two to produce hand made, one of a kind garments and accessories.

The designs are all my own, unless stated otherwise, and I do my best to accurately describe each item so that you have the best possible information about your purchase.

I hope that you like what you see; you can guarantee that I've really enjoyed making each and every item! I only create that which I would be happy to buy myself, so I hope that you feel able to shop with confidence.

Beautiful yarn - arrived quickly, and it smells amazing (the smell isn't usually something you think about when buying yarn, so I consider it a nice bonus!). I was also pleased with my free owl stitch marker, being something of a fan of the 'cats of the sky'. Many thanks :)

This is so pretty - the two fabrics work so well together! Many thanks too for the speedy delivery and lovely little owl progress keeper 💕

Lovely fibre! I bought several gradient braids, and am delighted with them. Good saturated colours, but not garish; and the fibre is beautifully soft and bouncy.

About

Home based indie dyer passionate about vibrant colours and gorgeous yarns!

I started knitting and crocheting when I was a small girl and then in my twenties discovered the fabulous hand dyed yarns that are available. I thought (after a couple of decades of being restricted to very basic yarns) that I had found heaven! A little while later I took up dyeing yarn myself and adored it. I love being able to turn plain undyed yarns into vibrant, exciting colourways that make my heart sing - I hope a little of this passion shows through for you! I also offer fibre for spinning in my shop, as well as project bags, stitch markers and, when time allows, decorated tape measures.

My dream is to one day develop the business into a full time enterprise; for now, with a four year old daughter as well as my older boys out of school hours, my hands are a little full and so it is definitely a part time endeavour...for now!

Hello and welcome to my shop! I'm Jennie, owner of Owl About Yarn. I have knitted and crocheted since I was very young, and more recently discovered the wonders of dyeing and spinning, so I'm a regular crafting butterfly! Shipping
I aim to ship items out within three working days of sale. If you need the item promptly please mention this when buying and I will do my best to help. I send everything within the UK by first class mail, and all overseas packages will be sent by airmail. Please bear in mind that overseas shipping times can vary widely from seven days to a month, dependent on customs control when leaving and entering countries. I always obtain proof of posting, but will not mail by 'signed for' services unless a postal supplement is paid. Therefore parcels are only insured to a maximum of £20 value. Please contact me if your order is over this amount and you'd rather pay a little more for more postal insurance.

I cannot deal with any claims for lost parcels until 20 WORKING (Mon - Fri) days have passed for UK orders, 20 working days for European orders and 25 working days for International orders. These are the guidelines set by Royal Mail and I cannot deal with missing parcels until this time.

Once a claim has been made I will arrange to send you a replacement, an alternative if no longer available or a refund.

A CN22 form has to be completed for all orders outside the EU and you are responsible for any import duties or taxes incurred on receipt of the parcel into your country. I will not falsify the customs label to avoid import tax. If you wish to buy multiple items and want to avoid this tax, it may be cheaper to split your order and pay postage charges on two packages.
Refunds and Exchanges
I attempt to describe the items as accurately as possible in the listings, and I do my best to photograph them accurately. Please bear in mind that there is some colour variation across different computer screens. I will only accept returns and offer refunds in exceptional cases and only by agreement. Return postage will be paid by the buyer.
Additional policies and FAQs
From time to time I can accommodate custom orders. Please bear in mind that, depending upon the request, this can take some time. If you request a custom order I will give an estimate of the time it could be expected to take at the time of the initial request.
