My work often begins with a walk and my iphone. I take much of my inspiration from my urban environment.

I love settling in with a cup of tea and doing some explorations with paper before diving into the weaving process.

I might paint directly on the warp while it's on the loom to add visual texture and colour.

Cotton warp hand dyed in indigo before it goes on the loom.

Why I do what I do
Way back in 2008, was inspired by my two young boys and made DIY kits for kids which I sold on Etsy as Owl+Pussycat. I did this while maintaining a career in corporate communications. Eventually it was all too much and I chose to go back to school to re-discover my need to make things. Once I discovered weaving I knew that all that textile play I had done as a child had led to this moment. I love finding the elusive "flow" when I sit down at the loom but I have to switch off parts of my brain to achieve it.

Designer And Maker
I love visually exploring unseen structures such as mapping, repetition, hidden geometries, or patterns through photography, collage and mark making before turning them into dyed, woven or stitched structures.
