The story behind ozetta handmade knitwear

Ma boutique est dédiée à mon arrière-grand-mère Marjorie Ozetta, qui m’a appris les bases du tricot et du crochet quand j’avais 10 ans. Je restais avec elle pendant des semaines pendant les mois d’été, et nous nous réveillions tôt pour préparer le petit-déjeuner, regarder des films et nous blottir dans ses courtepointes faites à la main, en crochetant. Elle disait toujours « petite Hailey, tu peux tout faire ». Je ramassais mes aiguilles chaque année pendant les Fêtes, mais quand elle est décédée en 2007, je les ai ramassées et je ne les ai jamais posées. Je voulais garder sa mémoire vivante d’une manière ou d’une autre, alors j’ai ouvert ma boutique.
Mon travail implique à la fois le tricot et le crochet, et chaque pièce que je fabrique est pleine de sens, d’amour et d’attention aux détails. Je suis excité quand je travaille sur quelque chose de nouveau – c’est presque comme si je ne pouvais pas me reposer jusqu’à ce que j’ai fini. J’attache une étiquette Ozetta en bois fabriquée à la main à chaque pièce, ce qui, associé à mon savoir-faire, la rend authentique et unique. Je pense que lorsque les gens lisent sur ma boutique, ils ont l’impression de porter une partie d’une histoire, et pour moi, c’est plus important que tout.

An excerpt from my interview for featured shop on Etsy,
My shop is dedicated to my great-grandmother Marjorie Ozetta, who taught me the foundations of knitting and crocheting when I was 10 years old. I would stay with her for weeks in the summer months, and we would wake up early to cook breakfast, watch movies, and curl up in her handmade quilts, crocheting. She always said “little Hailey, you can do anything.” I would pick up my needles every year around the holidays, but when she passed away in 2007, I picked them up and never put them down. I wanted to keep her memory alive in some way, so I opened my shop.
My work involves both knitting and crocheting, and each piece I make is full of meaning, love, and attention to detail. I get excited when I work on something new – it’s almost like I can’t rest until I finish. I attach a handcrafted, wooden Ozetta tag to each piece, which, coupled with my craftsmanship, makes it authentic and unique. I think when people read about my shop, they feel as though they are wearing a part of a story, and to me this is more important than anything.
