    Upcycling and Paganoonoo

While attending fashion design school I heard that fashion was the second largest polluting industry on the planet (I've since heard that statistic could be incorrect.). This was in 2010.

Shocked, I decided not to purchase any new retail clothing unless I was purchasing from another artist or for sanitary reasons. I thrifted, I made, I traded, I modified. The modifications became more and more elaborate until I had garments that looked nothing like the original. Women loved my creations and stopped me in public all the time to ask about them. I knew then that I had a business opportunity.

I began by writing upcycle sewing instructions and selling them, reasoning that teaching people how to upcycle would have a greater positive impact on the planet than just selling upcycled garments. That started in 2015. I've since sold thousands of patterns and all those sewists are helping to green fashion and save the planet while looking great in their Paganoonoo garments!

Fast forward 9 years. I've finished design school (loved every minute of it.) After 40 years working in the Medical Device industry I've retired. I now have the time and freedom to indulge in sewing garments and offering them for sale. It lights me up to be creating hands on! I truly love all aspects of sewing, especially upcycle sewing. I am also interested in exploring embellishment as a means of upcycling.

The sewing instruction side will continue and I will design new patterns as well. In fact, selling garments here will be a testing ground helping to determine which designs go to patterns/instructions. If you would like to visit the sewing instruction side go to www.etsy/shop/paganoonoo.

Thank you for supporting an indie business and greener fashion!

Paganoonoo is my dream 2nd career! I've retired from the Medical Device industry/ being a consulting expert in FDA regulations. After going back to school to study fashion design I discovered I have a passion for upcycling clothing, so Paganoonoo!
