Hello, I'm Kay Hughes, an artist living along the breathtaking coast of Oregon. The rhythm of the ocean, the shifting skies, and the still moments in nature all inspire my work. Painting is not just a creative outlet for me—it’s a way to connect more deeply with our Heavenly Father, the true Creator. Through every brushstroke, I seek to reflect His beauty, peace, and presence in the world around us.
I paint in acrylics, oils, and watercolors, letting each piece evolve through color, texture, and light. Whether it's a coastal landscape or a more abstract expression, my hope is that you, the viewer, feel something personal—peace, wonder, nostalgia, or simply a moment of stillness. I want my art to not just be seen, but felt.
If you love a painting but need a different size, I gladly offer custom sizing. Please note that pricing will be adjusted for custom work, and I require a 50% deposit to cover materials before starting your piece.

I am a self-educated artist and instead of crayons I once used, the paintbrush. palette knife, or nature's tools are my tools to create movement, color, and the textures of nature. Growing up, I participated in all my school art classes and took three years of art classes at college, and I have devoted countless hours of reading and practicing, practicing, and practicing.
It was friends and family that encouraged me to sell my art. My first show wasn't a success and I considered giving up, but a fellow seller liked my art and bought some paintings. I told her my plight, but she inspired me to keep painting and selling. She told me my art took her away to another place and that it reminded her of all the fun trips she treasured.
The name of my shop is a nickname from my husband, and it stuck. I want my art to sooth viewers and take them back to another place and remember that life is good.
