Caroline Colom Vásquez and José Vásquez- Corbalan have been designing together since the day their worlds collided in Austin, Texas. Hailing from opposite ends of the globe (Caroline from historic Mystic, Connecticut, and José from the romantic city of Buenos Aires, Argentina), the two fell in love at first sight, but soon discovered a shared passion; their courtship included many evenings spent sketching designs and ideas onto cocktail napkins, and long weekends full of crafting their ideas from whatever materials they could find. By marrying Caroline’s love of ceramics and design with José’s talents in woodworking and fine craftsmanship, the two settled in Austin and made that dream a reality. Paloma’s Nest was founded in 2007 and is a family-run business named after their daughter, Paloma (whose name means “dove” in Spanish).
