We've been experimenting with some leftover wood shavings and upcycled them into a version of our paper flower cross more suitable for him!We also have dark wood if you'd like to custom order one and three potential sizes. Send us a message before 12/1!

pancakes and...glue guns? what?

Pancakes and glue guns are two things I love and couldn't live without. Let me clarify, I don't actually love pancakes - in fact I've grown to loathe them - but I do love my husband, who might as well be a pancake. For as long as we have been together every birthday dinner has consisted of pancakes, most weekend mornings - pancakes, most mid-night snacks - pancakes. I'm not sure what it is that makes me tense up when I hear pancake, flapjack, slapjack, whatever. Glue guns, now that is representative of my half of the team. For our wedding we constructed a huge paper flower wall and in so doing, I became quite well-versed in the use of a glue gun. Now, let me tell you - those things fascinate me and can pretty much fix anything (except for the permanent skin loss on my finger tips). So together, it's pancakes & glue guns.

After our wedding, our paper flower wall received a lot of great feedback and as much as it surprised me, I kind of missed the endless nights cutting and swirling paper flowers. I also had spent years thinking I was heading into one career path, only to find out it wasn't going to work out. In the midst of that confusion, I knew the one thing I did love, bringing to life that huge paper flower wall. So, a little Etsy shop appeared.

When the shop first started I was a newlywed of almost four months. So I was still coming down from the high of wedding planning. I wanted to share details and help plan logistics, talk about flowers, the height of centerpieces, gifts for groomsmen, you name it. I began experimenting with small standing chalkboard signs that we had used for our dessert labels at the wedding and decided to market these specifically for wedding decor - table numbers, escort cards, etc.

Then the bridal showers started coming and I began making a few color combinations that matched the season of spring showers.

A few years later we found out our little family of two would be growing to three and I started creating gender reveal and baby shower decorations. When it came time to have our precious daughter dedicated I was inspired to create crosses from paper flowers.

Now I'm heading into a new stage, a potential new home, thoughtful gift giving for the ever expanding family around the holidays, and more things I'm sure that are in store that I'm unaware of.

Pancakes & Glue Guns hopes to add a whimsical touch to any special event in your life and to create a lasting relationship with you. We want to follow along with your life journey: your birthday, bridal shower, wedding, baby shower, first home, anniversary, baby's first birthday, and the list goes on! We want our party decorations and gifts to be your go-to stop for adding a unique and thoughtful touch or gift to any life celebration.

I started making paper flowers for our wedding and never stopped. Now, as a newly-wed and new mom, I love finding functional ways to use paper flowers in party decor for life celebrations as I experience them and sharing that with my customers.

• When do you start making my items?
Once you pay, your order goes into production.

• Can I cancel my order?
You can cancel your order within 3 hours of payment. Please keep in mind as soon as your item is purchased I begin the production process hoping to have it out within 2 business days.
• Will I offer insurance on all packages, or only some?
You'll have the option at check out to choose first class mail (uninsured) or priority mail ($50 of insurance).

• What will I do when items are lost or damaged in the mail?

If an item is lost in the mail and you selected first-class mail, the item is not replaceable but please contact me. I first ask that you check the address the package was sent to. If you purchased the Priority Mail option, these orders have a tracking number and you and I can both use Etsy to track the package location. In the past customers have accidentally used an old address and forgot to update. If this is the case, you’ll need to purchase a replacement item. If the package is marked as delivered, please contact your postal carrier to see if they may have left it in a non-obvious location for security reasons. It is only after you check with your postal carrier and bring the tracking number to your post office that I will fill out an insurance claim for the package and work with you to figure out an alternative.

USPS first class international mail is about half of the price of shipping priority mail but does not include insurance. If you would like insurance on your package, please choose the priority mail option. If you purchase additional insurance for your items I will file a claim and send a replacement product. If you did not, contact me and we’ll see if there are any possible alternatives.

• Will I offer expedited shipping?
No - because all items are ready-to-ship, they will leave the shop in the soonest time possible. You can choose from first-class or priority mail at check-out.

• Will I ship internationally?
Yes, I ship internationally. But please be aware that shipping internationally poses more risks than shipping domestically. I cannot guarantee an exact delivery date and because I use USPS exclusively, the tracking system does not allow me to see any type of activity after leaving the United States. To keep costs down for my international buyers I do not purchase insurance, if you’re interested in insurance please message me for a calculation of what this would cost before purchasing.
Refunds and Exchanges
• Will I accept returns, and will I reimburse buyers for return shipping costs?
I do not accept returns. I provide exact dimensions of the chalkboards for you in the listing to help you make your decision. If you receive the items and they are not as described or ordered, please send a picture of the items and we can discuss how to fix the situation.
Additional policies and FAQs
• What are my processing times?
All items are ready-to-ship and will leave my shop in 2 business days.

• Will my items look EXACTLY like the pictures?
Yes. All items are ready to ship and you are purchasing the exact item pictured.

• What if my chalkboards arrive and some are crooked or not standing up straight?
These little guys are adjustable. I assemble them in my shop and put a bit of hot glue to hold them in place, however if you want to – you can pop the chalkboard stand out of the small circular base. You can also adjust them slightly by wiggling them to stand up straight and you won’t hurt them. If any of them come detached, you can put them right back together and if needed just drop a dab of glue in there. (This usually isn’t necessary I just do it for extra good measure.) However, this rarely happens, I’ve only heard about them coming detached from one customer whose package sat out on her doorstep in the rain before she received it.

• Do I accept custom orders?
Not at this time.
