Announcement   WELCOME TO PANDORA JANE, a shop with enchanting twig fairy furniture, natural material fairy doll houses, shadowboxes and photographic prints of the natural environment in France where I gather my materials. All items are made with the greatest attention to craft and detail and should provide many years of charmed enjoyment for adults or older children. I am also just beginning to add some of the nature photographs I've taken on my daily walks in quest of natural materials.
A SPECIAL NOTE: Please see the policies section for more info on shipping and handling and if you have any questions don't hesitate to convo me.
Upon receiving their orders, many folks have expressed surprise at the sturdy quality of the fairy furniture. While many adult fairy fans purchase from Pandora Jane, the furniture and houses are suitable for children over the age of five who understand quiet play. Pandora Jane's pieces have been field tested by the children of many friends and my own three curious felines.

Please check out the series of found object, natural material assemblages and French vintage on Pandora Jane's sister shop http://www.artemisjane.etsy.com for additional goodies!

About

A Life in Nature

I've been making art, especially art with Nature---twigs and bark, moss and stones---since an early age. In my childhood I could be found at least ninety percent of the time either among the branches or beneath a tree, often building tiny houses or nests with materials I found there. Nature has always been the place where I've sought the transcendent mystery and beauty I require and the solace to shield me from life's rough patches.
I have my grandmother, also a visual artist, to thank for helping me to truly pay attention to the natural world and for her shining example of creativity in all of life's endeavors from cooking and gardening to constructing original clothing. My mother was an all around creative person as well, a professional musician, writer and teacher who gave me the space to run hard and climb high without curtailing my urge to be in the wild with my muse.
It follows naturally that taking care of Nature is a priority in my life. The fae, or faery, have often been regarded as guardians of the natural world, of plants, animals, elements and places and they are a powerful symbolic presence in my work. Making miniature fae houses and furniture in natural materials may be viewed by some as simply playful whimsy---and surely we could all use a dose of fantasy and momentary escape from a hectic world--- but I also hope through the things I make to convey the spirit of inner calm and wonder that can inspire our greater understanding, appreciation and stewardship of the natural world.

Hi---It's me---the girl with moss in her pockets. I can't seem to keep myself from picking up interesting bits and pieces of nature and found objects to use in the art which you'll find here on Pandora Jane and her sister shop, Artemis Jane.
