Retired Cancer Survivor Finds Joy in Beautiful Woodworking

What started as a love for wood-working a desire to give nice things to family, turned into Papa K Design. Once retired (and after recovering from cancer), David Hunscher started using his woodworking skills for fun. He loves taking others' left-overs of exotic and domestic woods and finding a new life for them. He blends and mixes the wood pieces together to create original, simplified, and sturdy handmade products. The hope is that others will enjoy and love how these treasures revitalizes their home environment.

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

David is open to hearing requests for custom orders, but you should know it all takes a while - up to 2-3 months from the start of the conversation to the point of getting a specific item ready and in the mail to you. So, reach out if you're interested, but it might not happen - and if it does, it will take a while.

Is this really just the cost for 1 table?

Yes, David uses very high quality woods to make each of these unique tables. This in combination with the time and effort it takes David to make each table (and the high prices of all kinds of wood during COVID), means that this cost is just for one table. We think they're well worth it though!

Care instructions

David puts at least 7 layers of lacquer on each table, so it should withstand most of your daily use and washing. However, you may want to avoid putting really hot things directly on the tables, and if you notice anything that seems amiss, reach out and let us know so David can offer his expert advice.
