Welcome to PaperHistory, where history is written on every surface! My items are gleaned from auctions, thrift shops, yard sales, and other secondhand sources - so EVERYTHING I sell is "used." For me, the history old items carry with them is a large part of their beauty, even though they're not as shiny or perfect as they probably were when new. In my descriptions, I try to list everything about an item that you might want to know, including its condition and any "issues" - wear and tear, damage, etc.

Part of my fascination with old paper is the research process - I do my best to correctly (some might suggest "obsessively") identify and date everything I sell, but I cannot give a 100% guarantee that my information is right.

I've been a bookhound all my life, and I started acquiring old paper for my own creative pursuits. Since realistically I can't *keep* everything I find, I get a great deal of pleasure from sharing my finds with you - people who also appreciate vintage, sometimes antique, beautiful, interesting, occasionally historically significant books and other paper objects.

Accepted payment methods

  • Pay with Visa
  • Pay with Master Card
  • Pay with American Express
  • Pay with Discover
  • Pay with PayPal
Payment
I only accept payment through Paypal. Once you buy an item on Etsy, you'll need to click on the "Pay Now" button, which will take you to PayPal to make the payment and finalize the sale. Payment is expected within 72 hours (3 days) of purchase, unless you contact me to let me know you'll need a little longer. I'm willing to be somewhat flexible - I know about that stretch between paychecks!

If you miss the "Pay Now" step, I'll probably convo you to remind you and confirm you do want the item - if you've decided not to buy, NO PROBLEM! All I have to do is cancel the sale, and we're all set. But please do let me know - because once you've "purchased" it off Etsy, it's no longer available to anyone else. If I don't hear from you within 7 days of the incomplete sale, I will cancel it and put the item back up for sale.

If you have any questions about the buying process, take a look at Etsy's Help Guide for their Checkout process - http://www.etsy.com/help_guide_checkout.php

Sales tax will be collected on sales within the state of Ohio.
Shipping
I will do my very best to ship the next business day after payment is received, but definitely within three business days. I'm happy to offer you the best shipping method for you - whether you need something quickly and want Priority (or even overnight!) shipping, or if you're satisfied with less expensive but slower methods. If your country is not listed in the shipping options, just convo me! I'm working on expanding the countries I ship to, and I'm happy to work with you if you'll be a little patient with me as I learn :). Note: All customs duties are the responsibility of the buyer. Merchandise cannot be marked "gift."

Combined shipping: Primary shipping amount applies to the heavier/est of multiple items - lighter items added at secondary cost. On multiple heavy/large items, secondary shipping may not be available, although if actual shipping is less I may be able to refund part of your charges. I don't want to gouge anyone on shipping/packaging, just need to get back what I'm spending.
Refunds and Exchanges
I do my best to correctly identify and date everything I sell, but I cannot give a 100% guarantee that my information is right. I also do my best to document the items' condition so you're informed as to what you're buying; however, condition of vintage items is largely a subjective matter, and my evaluation might not be the same as yours.

If you find that I have *materially misrepresented* an item - e.g., if I have stated that a book is a first edition and it is not, or if I fail to disclose that a print is waterstained - please let me know within *five days* after you receive the item. If I have listed incorrect information about an item, I need to know. If you want to cancel the sale and have your money refunded, I will make arrangements for the item to be returned at my expense, and as soon as it has been returned I will fully refund your money, including your shipping charges.

If an item is damaged when you receive it, please let me know as soon as possible, and definitely within five days of receipt, so I can make arrangements for a refund. I may need photos of the damaged item and its packaging, so please keep everything until we have been able to communicate and resolve the problem.
Additional policies and FAQs
Please let me know if there's anything in particular you're looking for - you never know what I'll find, or what I may have on hand and haven't had a chance to list!

Currently "on deck" - more books, maps, hand-painted pochoir-style greeting cards from the 1920s, photographs (cabinet cards, candid snapshots, and others), travel souvenirs... a little of everything!
