Handcrafted Paper Treats
I had been selling handcrafted scrapbook pages, in 2007, on ebay, and I was doing very well. But I decided I wanted to move on. I came across Etsy when it was just becoming known to the world. The whole concept felt right to me.
February of 2008, Paper Treats was born. If you look at my early listings, you can tell I was trying to establish what I wanted to create and sell. I began to work hard at creating unique gift tags using Martha Stewart punches, because they really inspired me.
In October of that year, I had the pleasure of going to a Martha Stewart book signing with the encouragement of my friend. So I made Martha a package of cupcake toppers ( a new concept at the time).
Martha didn't say anything to me, but as I was walking away I heard a voice say "Paper Treats ?" She was holding up my gift. I ran back over there, and in my giddy way began to tell her how much I loved her products. "I'll tell Lenore, maybe will have you on" she said.
I walked away thinking, yeah right. She probably says that to lots of people!
In November, I was contacted by a producer from the show. She said she love my gift tags and asked if I was willing to come to NYC and show Martha how to make my Christmas tags. I just about fell over. I had to overnight a bunch of product for them to look at first. When the producer showed Martha all the tags, Martha said " Oh yeah, I saw all that before. I met her at a book signing." So come to find out, the producer didn't even know Martha had already met me. They both agreed I needed to be on!
December 9th was the big day! Follow this link to watch the episode. http://www.marthastewart.com/248626/holiday-gift-tags
