About

Hello! I'm Francesca, the creative mind and maker behind PAPIERDOREILLE.
I'm from Italy, and a bunch of years ago I was living in Paris, where my brand is born and has moved its first steps. I'm now based near Venice, in the north of Italy, one of the most fascinating and inspiring cities in the world for me.

PAPIERDOREILLE is a one-of-a-kind shop where you can find tiny, evocative jewels, made with all the care of the world in my adored, beloved studio.
My brand offers also unique pieces, made-to-order items, limited-edition products and the possibility to discuss with you special orders and projects such as ceremony and wedding ornaments.

Designing accessories began as a hobby while I was studying Byzantine History of Art at the Rome University, then it became a deep passion and now it's happily a full-time job, which I came to during a 6 year-period after graduating.
I decided to take a break from the academic world, and have an experience in the middle of Europe, in Paris.
There I had the possibility to improve my skills and I started a collaboration with Matière Première, a leading entreprise in the French world of beads and components. I learnt to become familiar with many sorts of material and techniques of making, both for jewellery and accessory creation.
At the same time I drew the first sketches for a small collection, which I called "papierdoreille", a wordplay between the French words "boucle d'oreille" (earring) and "papier" (paper), because I worked a lot with printed paper resin cabochons. I opened a small shop on the net and I started to attend some "marchés des créateurs", indie and makers markets where I could directly exchange some positive and inspiring impressions with my customers. I understood that this job really was the one which could make me happy.
After several years in the French city I decided it was the moment to change. I've come back to Italy, and two years ago I've moved to my new lab in the venetian country, carrying with me a lot of fresh ideas that I look forward to experiment.

Pleasure, colour, Mediterranean late-antique jewelry inspirations, bohemian orientalism and sense of Nature are the bases of my creative process.

Every item is entirely sketched, designed and eventually handcrafted by me in my studio, made with high quality materials and components which I source from France to Turkey to India, to USA, passing through Italy.

At the moment I work basically with metal and gemstones.
I simply adore working with natural gems, it's really a deep passion for me as a person: in my shop you will find all my favourite beauties, such as Rubelite, Rose Quartz, Green Onyx, Labradorite, Moonstone, Chrysoprase, Opals, and Lapislazuli. I think profoundly that gemstones are alive, and could positively influence our feelings and wellbeing. They come from Mother Earth, they hold in themselves its energy, its ancestral vibration and its healing potential. And they will survive to us.

After the invention process the moment of photoshoot comes. I take approximately 20-25 shots for each product to be sure to present my work to the customer in the best way, in order to enhance every single detail of my design.
Then there's the Photoshop editing and finally the website + webshop listing.
Only after this long and rich process my creations are ready to become a valuable product. The most encouraging thing that keeps me constantly motivated is to see my crafts being shipped out of my door and handed to a joyful customer somewhere in the world where I've never been.

Thank you for stopping by and reading my story. I hope this little page will be helpful to let you know something more about me and my creations.
It will be an honor to me if you would discover PAPIERDOREILLE's universe.
I hope you'll appreciate!

Love, Peace and Nature,
Francesca

Before purchasing please keep in mind the following two notes:

1. I need 1-2 business days to pack your items with all the care in the world for a safe transit to your doorstep. To minimise our impact on the environment, I make a great inner pack and then use recycled shipping boxes when possible.

2. If you use Paypal you'll know that it takes 3-5 days to process purchases. Your goods will be shipped after payment completion and receipt of payment.
