I purchased this coffee table and a custom standing desk from Ming. I'm delighted with both purchases. Ming was really kind and patient in explaining to me the many options and entailments of each choice. I showed up in person for pick-up, and he showed me how to assemble the desk despite my very limited carpentry skills. Both the desk and the coffee are gorgeous and flawless...even more beautiful in person, than what the pictures suggest. I'll be going back to this talented artisan when I finally need a dining room table...in the meantime, the two pieces will have pride of place in my tiny apartment.

Our coffee table arrived just in time for a dinner party, and we got so many compliments on it! We wanted a live-edge coffee table with one 90-degree angle to go with our RH leather corner sectional. Ming answered all our questions in a timely manner along the way and delivered custom, unique, all-around GORGEOUS CRAFTSMANSHIP. We couldn't be more pleased! We highly recommend Pasadenaville. Thank you so much, Ming!

Ming, thanks again for your excellent work and communication throughout the process. Your pride of craftsmanship shows in the furniture you produce. We could not be happier with our live edge Cypress coffee table. It is exactly what we were looking for. Finding you on Etsy and working with you to find the right piece of wood made the entire process both exciting and reassuring. We appreciate that you answered our many questions and that you created this gorgeous and extraordinary table for our home. It will be our pleasure to recommend you to the many people who will fall in love with our table when they see it!

About

It Started So Long Ago, With Only a Handsaw and a Small Piece of Wood ...

Although you wouldn't know it from my name, I was born and raised in Texas and it was there, many years ago, in the hill country not far from Austin, where I went to school (go Longhorns!), that a wood cutter and furniture-maker showed me the ropes in making beautiful pieces out of raw mesquite wood. My first creation: a walking stick.

Not many people outside of Texas know that certain parts of the state were settled by German immigrants in the early 1800's (thus, towns with names like Fredericksburg, Luckenbach, Boerne, etc.). Here I knew a "German Texan" who took the time to demonstrate and teach to me old world techniques in making wood furniture. This included the "Sloyd" craft which is an old-country (or, some would say, old-school) technique of employing basic and advanced woodworking skills using good, old-fashioned manual tools. In this age of modern and automated machinery, I still employ aspects of this system in order to hone my skills and tackle more advanced projects. And let's face it, sticking a slab of wood through a planer does not qualify as 'handcrafted'.

All of the wood I work on come from trees that have been sustainably harvested. For example, some of the maple I work on comes from an area in New York in which the trees were felled either because they were already defoliated by gypsy moths or to prevent the spread. Some of my black walnut were felled due to development, so instead of being ground for wood chips and bio-waste I turn them into beautiful and unique live-edge wood tables and furnishings that will be appreciated for generations. Environmental responsibility and sustainability are hallmarks of why I do what I do.

My main line of work is as an independent producer here in the Los Angeles area. But woodworking is more than a hobby or a side business for me. It's a passion, and one that I'm happy to share with my customers. I've come a long ways since making that first walking stick. But one thing that hasn't changed since that first project is my attention to craftsmanship. I've lived in California for over 18 years now, but a lot of Texas has stayed with me and that includes the joy of making beautiful and affordable live-edge wood tables and benches and other furnishings.

Handcrafted - Sustainable - Beautiful - That's Pasadenaville!

Additional policies and FAQs
The imperfections of live edge wood are part of what makes them unique and beautiful and set them apart from manufactured and mass-produced furnishings. These can include knots, checks, small cracks and splits, off-coloration from one part of the wood to another, voids (and other natural holes), bark and other inclusions, and planer and/or sanding marks among others. In addition, while we joint and plane slabs to be as flat as possible surfaces may still not be completely flat (but always level enough to place items on). Please remember that these imperfections are either inherent in all live-edge wood or a result of the cutting or finishing process - we always try to be as detailed as possible in our item descriptions and we urge you to look closely at all photos before purchasing and to ask us any questions you might have.

If in doubt as to whether a table or other furnishing will fit in a particular room or space (such as in front of a sofa/couch/sectional), we recommend taking masking or painters tape and using it to outline the dimensions (length x width) of a particular item (especially tables) onto that space. We urge you to take time to make sure the dimensions of the items fit with your specifications including the height. We always do our best to be exact in listing the dimensions of all our products.
