About

Creativity gives your life peace and passion

In 1985 my daughter gave me a little pressed flower picture she helped create. Her signature and date were very sweet next to the flowers, but I never imagined how inspirational her gift would become.

I started pressing all kinds of flowers and leaves. The first flowers I pressed were primroses, pansies and ferns. I put them inside cards I bought for family and friends.

When I went to California, I saw miniature roses being developed by nurseryman Ralph Moore. I pressed a little red one in a road map and put it under the floor mat of my car! Weeks later I found it all dried and pressed and looking so sweet.

I rushed to my work table, glued it on a card and drew a little border around it. When I showed my husband he was actually stunned and said I think you could sell that!
Things just fell into place, after he came up with a system to help me press hundreds of flowers at a time. Then, we found a huge supply of little roses, and I ended up with thousands of pressed miniature roses!

Even though I haven't had any formal art training, I learned creating something you love and sharing it with others is one way to find your bliss.

Pressing flowers is such a joy, but to create beautiful art with dried petals and make people happy with my creations is priceless. Thank you Etsy for letting me share this love!

A very behind the scenes person, my husband gladly steps in to do odd jobs like cutting ribbon or carting my "stuff" to and from shows. Lucky me he also has an eye for quality. His advice "create happy dancing flowers" touches each design I make.

Hello, and welcome to my shop, Patsy's Pressed Flowers, where you will find my signature Rose Cards, and many other real pressed flower designs.

I discovered pressing and creating pressed flower designs a very soothing hobby. The flowers are beautiful, and it's exciting to open a press and see the results.

I love gardening and watching my flowers grow; learning their curvy nature and how I can recreate them into keepsake art after pressing.

I also feel very lucky to work with floral exhibitors and the experts who judge individual flowers and artistic designs at the Washington State Fair.

My cards and bookmarks are pieces of small art that make beautiful keepsake gifts to be enjoyed for years to come.

Please convo with any special request you may have, and I will do my best to create happy dancing flowers just for you!

I carefully package then ship my cards and designs all over the world, and I am happy to say they have all arrived in excellent condition.

Additional policies and FAQs
About sending my pressed flower cards in the mail:

Cards with pressed flowers such as pansies that are quite flat can be sent safely in the mail.

Pressed flower cards that are thicker, such as my Rose Bud cards, should be hand cancelled. You can print on bottom left corner of envelope: "Non Machinable". You may have to add $.20 or more extra postage.

I would suggest adding extra protection in your envelope such as a folded piece of photo copy paper for thicker flowers.

Shipping in a photo mailer is a very secure way to send pressed flower cards.

Frequently asked questions

Gift wrapping and packaging

I always simply fold my items in white tissue and use my small, gold oval seal to secure the tissue.
All items go into a zip lock bag to protect against moisture or other elements.

Do you grow your own flowers?

Yes, except for the miniature roses on my Rose Bud cards. I got those flowers from a grower, then pressed them with the help of a friend durian the early '90's. I quit counting after I pressed 100,000 roses! Most are on cards, but I still have several thousand for custom orders.
I started growing my flowers to see the way they grow so I could put them back in a natural, curvy way.

Do you press your own flowers?

Yes, I do. It's a very enjoyable hobby, and I love opening the presses to see how they turn out.

Are these flowers real?

Yes, natural and real. I do
Not paint my flowers. Their color is natural.

Do you coat your flowers with anything?

I recommend coating leaves or anything green to help prevent fading. I use a clear, nontoxic sealer, but you can choose no sealer in options for a natural look.

Protecting pressed flowers

Keep pressed flowers away from direct sunlight, or extreme moisture.
Use UV glass with picture frames and keep the glass off the flowers when possible.
