About

Sweet Memories

I am hopelessly a collector of patterns. I remember going to the local thrift store with my grandmother at the tender age of nine. There we would sort through the patterns to find something that she could use to teach me to sew and that I could wear when we were done. I was hopelessly in love with sewing and patterns from then on.

As the years past, my collection grew. My first job out of high school was at a fabric store. The employees got to take any discontinued patterns they wanted before they were thrown away. I collected more than my fair share.

After moving on to other jobs, I still continued to collect from thrift stores and enjoyed looking at the pattern envelopes for inspiration for sewing projects. Many of the pattern envelopes also reminded me of my grandma or mom (who is also a sewing enthusiast). However, I found that I never used the patterns.

When I started a family, I decided to decrease the number of patterns I had and help the family out as a stay at home mom. I started Pattern Memories as a way to share the patterns I find in thrift shops and still be able to enjoy the beautiful pattern envelopes.

I also love the idea of reproduction patterns. I started creating reproduction patterns because the typing helps my fingers from becoming stiff from arthritis. I have amassed a small collection of vintage crochet and knitting patterns and am always on the look out for vintage craft books that I can reproduce and share.

Hopefully, you find a pattern that reminds you of the past like some of the patterns do for me.

I am a lover of patterns. I have a preference for vintage but love patterns of any decade. I love to sew, crochet, and do needlework. Sewing and designing infant clothes are my favorite things. I love being a mom and sewing for charity.
