Welcome to our shop! Paulova is a small scale business. Due to the handmade nature of our ceramics, subtle variations in the shape, size and glaze of each piece is to expected. If you have any questions about a particular item, send us a message before you make your purchase and we will be happy to answer your questions or concerns.

Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
  • Items on sale
Returns and exchange details
DAMAGED ITEMS:
We accept replacements or refunds on any items that are damaged during shipping. Please notify us within 48 hours of receipt and include a photo of the damaged item as well as the box and packaging materials. Please do not throw out any of the packaging until an insurance claim is processed. This is important. We cannot be held liable otherwise. The insurer will not accept a claim without photos of the damaged items and packaging. Once a claim is approved we will replace or refund your order. We will cover the shipping cost on replaced item(s).

EXCHANGES:
We will accept exchanges or refunds on some items if you are not happy with your purchase. Please notify us within 48 hours of receipt. Buyer is responsible for all shipping charges. The exchange or refund will be processed once we receive the item and ensure it is in its original condition. We cannot be held liable for returned items that are damaged during transit or are lost or stolen. So please wrap well, use a trusted shipping carrier and insure your package if possible.

All purchases are final on custom orders, pre-orders, sale items and match holders.
Payment
Items purchased are not sent out until payments are processed. Please make sure your address is current and valid. We cannot be held liable for items shipped to the wrong address provided to us.
Shipping
Packages are shipped from Portland, Oregon Monday-Friday within 1-3 days of purchase, unless it is a custom order or pre-order.

PLEASE NOTE:
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you may experience slight delays in shipment and delivery.

Most orders are shipped via USPS. Large or heavy orders may ship via UPS. Please be sure that you have provided us with a correct and verified address, otherwise we cannot be held responsible for packages that are not delivered.

We try to ship most items Priority Mail (1-3 day delivery) to get your order to you as quickly as possible. Smaller items, under 1 lb ship First-Class Mail (2-5 business days). Orders outside of the U.S.A. are shipped First-Class International or Priority Mail International, if over 4 pounds.

PRE-ORDER/MADE TO ORDER policy:
When combining an order of in stock items with any pre-order or made to order items, your entire order will ship together when all items are in stock and ready to ship.

PACKAGING:
While we must use some bubble wrap to keep your ceramics safe, the packing peanuts we use are made from organic potato starch. They decompose in water leaving no toxic waste. If you receive any other type of packing material, it has been recycled from our wholesale suppliers.

While we always include a business card, we don't always include paper receipts in our packages. You will receive a digital receipt from Etsy after placing your order. If a paper receipt is important to you, please request this when placing your order.

We cannot be held liable for packages that are delivered to the wrong address. Please be sure to double check your shipping address before placing your order.

If your package is lost in the mail or damaged we will file a claim for you. Unfortunately the insurance policy states we must wait 20 days in order to file a lost claim, in case the package turns up. Damaged items will be replaced or refunded as soon as possible. Please keep your damaged item and all packaging materials, as we will need this evidence to file a claim.

PLEASE NOTE:
Once the tracking states that your package was "DELIVERED", it becomes your property and we can no longer be held liable. It is the buyers responsibility to call their local post office and/or file a theft report.
Additional policies and FAQs
Please note that the clay and glaze colors you see online will vary according to each computer monitor. We use a variety of clays which vary in color. Also, all of the ceramic pieces in our shop are made by hand on a potter's wheel. We strive to make beautiful pieces, but subtle "imperfections" are to be expected. We do not consider these defects, but rather a sign that your piece was made by a human. We do however list some of our pieces as seconds when warranted, for example if a lid doesn't fit quite right or if there is a noticeable issue with the glaze.

We primarily use matte glazes and it must be noted that matte glazes have a tendency to get little pin holes or tiny divots in them since they don't run like glossy glazes. The increased "flux" in glossy glazes normally covers up any of these "imperfections". Unless it is a quite noticeable imperfection, we are no longer listing these as seconds since this is such a common occurrence. If you are very particular about exact size, color, or perfection, we strongly urge you to contact us before placing an order.
