Small Works by M.William

Top shop for gifts.

A buyer bought a gift from this shop and gave it a 5-star review!

Announcement    I opened this store with a desire to strengthen my painting discipline after putting art off to the side for way too long. My intentions for this area of my work remain the same as they were when I started: to paint on a small scale, not spend more than a few days on each piece, and to choose subjects that are simple as well as, as another painter has aptly put it in an interview: "foils for the real subject, which is light".

I view these exercises as genuine expressions of the pleasure of seeing. I consciously try not to imbue these pieces with anymore than the innate beauty of the subject and the many times simple but powerful emotions that it has inspired in me.

As I write this, I find that I have become more interested in leaving the scenes I choose to paint as they are and trying to capture a sense of spontaneity as opposed to setting up an elaborate still life (although I still enjoy both). I'd like to think my work reflects this, but I think it will take more pieces for me to stand back and spot a noticeable evolution. One thing that never changes is that, with each new piece, I find myself with a growing body of small works that I can learn from.

All of these paintings are in excellent condition and painted with oils on either canvas or masonite panel (hardwood) which is backed with a wooden cradle and picture wire (or any other equally priced hanger if requested) attached.

Every giclee is printed on an archival matte paper using only brand name, special light-fast inks. Inks are archival certified and if treated properly, will last a lifetime.

Thank you,

_Michael
