About

Living The Handmade Life

Addie was born in a little mill village in the upcountry of South Carolina during the Great Depression. She is a proud "linthead", the daughter of textile workers and the granddaughter and great granddaughter of farmers who lived off the land. Her parents instilled in their eight children a love of the Lord and love of family; and the value of living a frugal and self-sufficient life, which often meant utilizing their own talents to create the things they needed.

Addie taught home economics and worked as a county extension agent before becoming a social worker. Since retiring from state government, she fills her time spending time with her Red Hat Society friends, playing Canasta, reading, crocheting, sewing, taking care of her grandchildren; and sharing her testimony through song, singing in churches across the South Carolina Lowcountry; and she loves nothing better than signing with her brothers and sisters around an old piano.

Lynda is Addie's oldest child, one of three children, all of whom carry on the family traditions in their own way by utilizing their talents in various artistic mediums. One of Lynda's best memories are rainy days spent with her mother and younger brother and sister sitting around the dining room table while Momma Addie sewed clothes for them. She would take a picture they colored and turn it into a fabric applique for a new outfit.

Lynda has worked in several artistic mediums and loves to tat, crochet and sew. For the past 10 years, jewelry design has been her primary focus. She prefers to work with polymer clay because of its versatility, and sells her one of a kind works of wearable art in a second Etsy shop at divadesignsinc.etsy.com. Using vintage fabrics to create new art is a passion of Lynda's. For years, she has collected vintage flour sack and feed sack fabric, and vintage kitchen linens, which she is currently reworking into fresh new items for future generations to enjoy.

Addie and Lynda are each other's biggest supporters, and spend many hours brainstorming and talking about new designs and their creative process; and are very thankful to be able to share their artistic creations with you here at Etsy.

Welcome to my Holiday Shop! This is my second Etsy shop. In my other shop, scdiva.etsy.com, you will find my polymer clay and semi-precious gemstone jewelry: Pendants, Necklaces, Brooches, Artisan Focal Beads, and Polymer Clay Tutorials.

This shop, PCDiva.etsy.com, is devoted to my polymer clay Christmas ornaments and other holiday items. It is only open from November 1st through December 31 of each year.

I will combine shipping on items purchased in both shops. Convo me with the items you would like to purchase from each shop and I will adjust the shipping charges accordingly. If you purchase $50 or more in one transaction, I will pay shipping for you. I am happy to ship internationally, but cannot guarantee a Christmas delivery on items are purchased after November 30th.

I create every polymer item offered in my shop. Polymer clay is my medium of choice because of its amazing versatility. I specialize in image transfers and faux work. I would love to create a custom order to your specifications.

I give a loyal customer discount for repeat purchases.

I love to ship internationally, so if you are outside the U.S., not a problem! It gives my tiny post office a thrill for me to bring in packages marked for destinations outside the U.S.

Visit my other shop at scdiva.etsy.com, or my blog and flickr photostream to see more of my work. I blog at www.scdiva.blogspot.com and the URL for my flickr photostream is http://www.flickr.com/photos/25473906@N02/.

If you see something you like in my flickr "SOLD" photoset, ask me about it. I may be able to create a similar piece, but no two designs are ever alike.

Thank you for supporting handmade artistry!

Lynda

My handcrafted jewelry and ornaments are not marketed for children, nor is it my intent in creating these items that they be used by children.
