First off, i am sooo impressed with Peaceknots willingness and patience working with me to design the bracelet that I wanted. She was very helpful in showing and suggesting options so that I got a very special, unique and one of a kind bracelet. The quality craftsmanship of the bracelet is amazing, you can feel the strength in the construction which I think says something about the person who made the bracelet and that makes me very happy when putting it on. I feel it is very empowering to know that the bracelet is not only a social statement, but also a fashion statement as well. My bracelet was started immediately upon receipt of my special order with forthcoming pictures and great communication along the way. I think Peaceknots makes an truly awesome, very unique and special product with no compromise to quality.

Macrame Addict Knotting Peace Into Every Piece

Peaceknots was created in 2009 in my apartment in Orange County, CA. The name describes my jewelry because I'm at peace when I make each item & I want to pass along peace to every customer & knots because each item is made out of macrame knots.
My full time job is as a retail merchandiser which can be creative but as years go by the retail industry wants everything to be more & more cookie cutter. To feed my need for creativity, I found jewelry making. It started out as every once in a while & making pieces for my friends to oh my gosh I need to figure out how to make this my full time job! Then, I stubbled upon Joan Babcock, amazing macrame artist ( I purchased one of her books & I was hooked & on my way to becoming the macrame addict I am today!
Peaceknots etsy page was created in 2010. I'm extremely grateful for Etsy because it has allowed me to slowly come out of my shell & showcase my work from the comfort of my tiny apartment. Like most artists it's so scary to put yourself out there for people to critique & then placing a price on your craft is next to impossible. In 2014 I did my first market show in San Diego @ Union - Barrio Logan & it was a huge success for Peaceknots. Peaceknots is now a member of the San Diego Made art collective ( that aims to increase awareness of the local arts within the local community and promote the Shop Local. Buy Local. philosophy to the greater public. In 2015, was created so customers have more than one place to shop. Please check our website to see what local shops are carrying Peaceknots!
Each item is handmade by me, Melissa, using either hemp or nylon cord. Nylon cord is my personal favorite b/c of the many color options available, durable, lightweight, comfortable against the skin & the ends/edges can be burned for a clean finish. Macrame can be very time consuming; some pieces can take up to 8+ hours for one bracelet b/c for every knot you see, it took 2 knots to create that one knot. I tend to not incorporate many beads in my work because I love the beautiful pattern that macrame creates.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story! I love custom orders so if you have an idea in mind, please contact me through my etsy page.

peace & love
