About

peaceloveglass

I’m Laura Kelly and all the stained glass art from peaceloveglass is handmade by me in my home workshop.

I’m a new artist. I had a corporate New York City job but after 15 years and a health scare, I was burnt out and decided to leave.

I spent some time re-centering myself (ok, ok, there were also a lot of naps involved) and then I took a stained glass class to get myself out of the house.

I fell in love with it. I think it appeals to my organized nature - all the pieces have to fit together... But my favorite part is picking out the colors ;)

I love working with clients on smaller personal projects and custom stained glass pieces. I also have a few wholesale accounts.

About 90% of my glass is recycled or reclaimed. I love this because I can get gorgeous high-end glass & stay environmentally-friendly. My favorite finds come out of NYC brownstones, old houses, and broken lamps.

Every quarter when I pay my business taxes, I make a donation to a charity to support issues I care about. Here are some of the good causes that have received donations from peaceloveglass in the last year:

Fisher House (www.fisherhouse.org) - They provide free & low cost housing to military families so they can be close to their loved ones during hospitalization for disease, illness, or injury.

Tabby’s Place (www.tabbysplace.org) - A cage-free sanctuary for cats rescued from hopeless situations.

Donor’s Choose (www.donorschoose.org) - Teachers all around the country need supplies & materials for their classrooms. This site lets you pick specific classrooms/teachers/programs to donate to. I like to donate to NYC schools, particularly arts and science programs in elementary schools.

Kickstarter (www.kickstarter.com) - Lots of great projects here to pick from! The last project I donated to was the publication of a vividly illustrated children’s book. The book is about a bored pug who teaches his busy owner about what’s important.

Additional policies and FAQs
How to care for your stained glass:
Caring for stained glass is easy. If left alone, it will develop a natural patina over time and last for decades. If you need to wash it, use regular dishwashing soap. Do not use Windex or other glass cleaners on it. Dry it right away to avoid water spots.

Tips about suction cups:
Weight-rated suction cups are included with many of my purchases (see specific listing to determine if they are). For best adhesion, always clean the window before affixing suction cups. At least once a year, suction cups and the window should be cleaned again so that they'll keep sticking properly. Suction cups should be replaced every few years to ensure suction.

Reminder:
Stained glass items are made with solder, which contains lead. Handling the item is fine - licking or ingesting it is not! All stained glass items should be kept out of the mouths of children, adults, and pets. :)

Each package includes a card containing my contact information, brief information on how to care for the product, and a disclaimer regarding the use of lead in stained glass.
