Announcement   We raised Alpacas for 6 years and kept all the fleece from shearing them each year. By the time my husband sold our alpacas (due to health issues), we had 9 alpacas, plus a cria girl that was born 4 days after the move to their new home. We have a stockpile of 6 natural alpaca colors that I use to felt my creations. I also use wool and a large variety of natural and synthetic fibers to create the hats, scarves, purses and flowers that I have in this shop. I also make Nuno Scarvers. Here is a quote I remembered from a Nuno felting site. "As the agitation of a grain of sand in an oyster creates a pearl, so too the agitation of wool or alpaca fibers into silk fabric creates nuno felt, a beautifully textured thin lightweight drapable fabric." So true!

Hello and welcome to my shop that has actually been a pleasure and a challenge to build – no contractor! I am a mom, grandma and a great-grandma. I was born in California many years ago. My husband, dog and I moved to Missouri in 2004 and we love it here! Among my many interests which include Building, Master Gardening, growing a sustainable garden, Copper Craft, Watercolor, Knitting and raising rare Barnevelder chickens (my maiden name is van Barneveld), I also hand felt alpaca fleece hats, scarves, flowers and purses. On 9-4-2010 we sold our alpacas, but I had a large supply of raw fleece and that is what makes the base of 99% of the hats I make. I have a hard time going to sleep at night because I am thinking about what will go into my next project, so each project is hand-felted and blocked with excitement and anticipation to see the outcome. I will never stop learning about this craft because the creative aspect of felting hats is a joy to wake up to. I have redone hats too because I wasn’t satisfied with the results and as with most people in this business, I am my own worst critic. To make one hat takes anywhere from 4 to 9 hours, Nuno scarves sometimes take longer.

I create these hats on new and vintage hat forms in a smoke free environment. Most of our hats are made from our own homegrown alpaca fleece. Very few at this time are made from other fibers such as wool. Each hat listing will specify each item that has been used to make that particular hat.

If you have questions about anything I do while creating my fiber art, please convo me. All I ask is that you give me several days to get back to you.
