Announcement   Rustic wedding rings . Artisan engagement rings . Quote jewelry . Hand crafted in my Nashville area studio using recycled silver and gold and ethical gemstones. Each eco friendly ring, charm and medallion is my own design and features favorite poetry, literature verses, quotes and words of happiness written by hand.

Sourcing ethical materials is an obsession for me and is the heart and soul of my business. Recycled silver and gold is used in all of my designs. Finding excellent quality, fair trade gemstone suppliers has taken years. I know that you'll be thrilled with the beautiful stones that I offer! My suppliers deal directly with the mines and their gems are closely tracked from mine to market to ensure that every gem has been handled according to strict protocols. Please support TRUE fair trade gemstones!

As with all trends, it seems that 'ethical', 'humane' and 'fair trade' have become buzzwords mistakenly used to describe stones that are conventionally mined. This sad abuse of these terms can only hold back progress in cleaning up the gemstone market.

I am a Green America certified business and member of the MJSA.

Your jewelry will arrive in a recycled kraft paper box wrapped with an indigo velvet ribbon.

Custom pieces will take 4 weeks to create as of March 15th. My most asked questions, shipping information and my current custom order time frame are all answered here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/peacesofindigo/policy

Dawanna has a wonderful gift to share with bohemians and romantics alike :) Not only was she incredibly responsive to my messages--she worked with me on the perfect setting, gemstone, and band color/width for my engagement ring--she truly cares for her clients and ensures quality and beauty for them. Shipping was fast, and when I received the ring, the band fit perfectly to my size! I love my deep-blue, Nordic waters-inspired gemstone and the lovely handmade band. <3 <3 <3 Thank you so much, Dawanna! :)

About

Ethical Materials + A Passion For Making = A Dream Come True

In late 2008, my husband was laid off when his company closed their entire operations in our state during the economic downturn. As a stay at home/home schooling mom to our three sons, we had lost our sole source of income. Serendipity. It was the perfect catalyst for taking a risk and building our future around a dream...

An investment in supplies and books, lots of trial and error, hard work, and a passion for building a new future for my family allowed my creative dreams to take flight.

I sold my designs at several great art shows through the year at the beginning. The introduction to Etsy via my sister allowed my business to take flight. Sending my jewelry to sweet souls around the world makes my heart sing!

I literally LOVE my job. I have to pinch myself every once in a while, just to be sure that this isn't a dream. Every day that I get to make beautiful things is a great day. I adore being asked to create wedding and engagement rings! It is such a special moment to be a small part of.

Creating beautiful things that bring enjoyment to others is my path. The older that I get, the more my soul craves a simple life. I'm inspired and drawn to my Cherokee roots. My sons are growing up and watching them find their own paths is such a joy.

Philanthropy:
Making the world a better place is something that is written on my heart, so I give a portion of my sales every month to Blood:WaterMission. I would love for you to google/read about the amazing things they are doing and ways that you can get involved.

Thank you so much for enjoying and supporting my handmade art. It truly means the world to me.

xo,
Dawanna

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take for a custom piece to be created?

Made to order pieces are currently taking 4 weeks to create.

I do have many ready to ship options available, if you need something quickly. Please click on the link below for a list of them. I add pieces regularly, so please check back in if you don't see exactly what you are looking for:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/peacesofindigo/search?search_query=ready+to+ship&order=date_desc&view_type=list&ref=shop_search&page=1

Are custom fees/duties/sales tax included in the price?

I am not authorized to collect import or customs fees for any country, and they are not included in your purchase price. The official website of your country of residence will assist in estimating any fees that may be due after you take delivery of your package. I cannot falsify documents with incorrect item values or mark orders as gifts, as this is illegal.

If your package is being mailed to a Tennessee address, I am required by state law to collect Tennessee sales tax.

Sizing details

Please be certain that your order the correct ring size. Local jewelry stores are a great place to determine your ring size. If that isn't a possibility, please ask me for a ring sizer to use at home. Print out ring sizers are NOT an accurate way of determining your ring size.

I will not be able to change the size once your ring has been created. Due to the amount of detail on my rings, I do not offer resizing services. A jewelry store with a repair shop can resize my rings. There will be a visible seam in most cases.

Care instructions

I use a natural patina to bring out the engraved details on my pieces, and it is not permanent. Patina will wear away gently over time, giving your piece a shinier appearance.

Please avoid the following to keep your jewelry in new condition: cleaning products, hot tubs, swimming pools, and ESPECIALLY (for the love of Pete don't even think about using) liquid jewelry cleaners. Chlorine and sulfur can turn silver black. Impact activities can bend your rings, whether silver or gold. Removing them is an easy way to prevent this.

Sunshine polishing cloths will keep your jewelry beautiful. Please send me a message if you'd like to purchase one.

Can you reset my stone? Or melt down my rings and reuse the gold?

Sadly, no. Setting gemstones is a tricky business and taking on the possibility of damaging an irreplaceable (or sentimental) stone just isn't a chance that I can (or my insurance will allow me to) take. A local jewelry store with a repair department is your best choice for resetting an heirloom stone on one of my bands.

Custom and personalized orders

My customers love the option of adding their own personal messages inside of rings and on my pendants. Many of my silver and gold pieces can be customized with the word(s) of your choice.

A few exceptions: I do not offer customization on bronze pieces. Ready to ship pieces are only available as shown in the listing photos. Please contact me for details if you have a specific piece in mind and are unsure of personalization possibilities.

Please be aware that adding a custom message to any of my jewelry removes the possibility of returning or exchanging that piece.
