Let it snow..... and other stuff.....

In the fall of 2015 I saw Anthony Herrera's Star Wars snowflakes (anthonyherreradesigns.com) on Facebook. I just HAD to try making some. So I sat at my table with my quilter's cutting mat and an orange plastic utility knife and made snowflakes. I sealed them in clear contact paper and hung them on the wall at work. I got a lot of compliments on them, and after Christmas I took them down and gave some of them to friends.

The following fall (2016) I wanted to make more. I decided to upgrade my tools and bought a better cutting mat and an exacto knife. I started looking for other designs to make, and branched out from Star Wars. I even started designing a few myself! I was giving out snowflakes like crazy. I kept a to-do list of what I wanted to make for who.

I really enjoy sitting at my table with my earbuds in creating with paper. I enjoy it so much, that after Christmas 2016 I did not want to stop making snowflakes. I decided to keep working, but what was I going to DO with all these snowflakes? I had a great idea..... Donate them! But to where??? A visit to my Facebook newsfeed gave me the answer..... St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital!!

So I made snowflakes all the time. I made them in the spring, I made them in the summer. I sat at the table outside making them. I laminated them all, trimmed them, and put string on them. It was a labor of love. My St. Jude donation box grew and grew. I even designed a St. Jude snowflake.

By Thanksgiving 2017 I had 155 snowflakes and 14 papercut ballerinas with paper snowflake skirts. I wrote a letter, and the Monday after Thanksgiving I shipped it out.

All year long, friends and family would see my snowflakes and tell me that I should be selling them. In the spring of 2017 I decided that after Christmas I would open an Etsy shop.

And here I am! On Etsy at last!

I LOVE making paper snowflakes. However, I realize they are not always in season! I am starting to branch out and make other projects. Anything I can make with paper. I absolutely LOVE Star Wars, and will be trying to do more geeky subjects.

Paper cutting is indeed my therapy. Most evenings and weekends you will find me at my table, creating SOMETHING......
