Announcement   Portmanteau is a blending of two words to create something new. In my store, PapierManteau, you will find pieces borne when 2 or more source materials are deconstructed, envisioned afresh, and blended together in a singular manner.

Each piece is comprised of hundreds to thousands of meticulously torn and placed high resolution magazine photographs, adhered to a backing (typically canvas panel or chipboard ATC) to create a one of a kind composition.

Interested in a custom piece? Please message me using the Contact button in the left hand navigation menu to discuss the possibility. Due to the many hours and great amount of care I put into ensuring you receive a piece you will treasure, please allow several months for a typical custom item.

This has to be seen to truly appreciate the work that went into the original collage! Pearljammies work is so intricate and unique. The beauty and strength of the Warrior just pops from the print. I love it! It was sent securely and fast. Thank you so much!

About

Pearljammies, paper collage artist

Jessica Shincovich thrives on connection. Whether across ideas, images, people, or culture, she is adept at finding, studying, then revealing these connections hidden within seemingly disparate entities. In her work as a paper collage artist, Jessica finds ultimate expression of this skill. Paper flows through her nimble fingers like water as she unites fragments of color, texture, and pattern sourced from an array of magazine photographs that, once deconstructed, she blends into wholly new compositions noted for their depth, power, and movement.

Currently working in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jessica has received an award for special recognition in Light Space Time's 3rd annual Open Art Competition (November 2013). She was also voted overall winner of Etsy’s Team Whatever challenge, “This is Sparta!" (August 2013). She is slated to teach a non-credit collage workshop to college students during January, 2014. Her work is included in private collections in Arizona, Connecticut, Georgia, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Sydney, Australia.

I hardly remember a time during my youth that I did not spend creating. I have worked in a number of media. In 2010, I discovered collage; the fit was instantaneous and complete. It is my medium, and in it, I find freedom and voice.
