About

How it all started

I started making earrings about 5 years ago when I got a free pair with my purchase from a local boutique. After looking at them for a while, I said to myself, "I could make these!" Using some supplies I purchased from the local craft store and some of my dad's tools, I began making some simple earrings for myself and my mom. Pretty soon, lots of people started asking if I could make some for them so I began selling them. My parents gave me my own set of tools and my family and friends began giving me old stashes of beads they had (my aunt even gave me thousands of beads from her friend who had closed a bead store). And that is how my earring making business began. The knitting was added a few years later. I had learned to knit from my maternal grandmother when I was fairly young but hadn't really done a whole lot of it outside making simple things for around the house. Lately I've gotten a bit more creative and adventurous with my knitting and decided to incorporate it into Pearl of the Pacific.

The name Pearl of the Pacific is the nickname my maternal grandfather had for me. I don't work with a lot of pearls but I like the image of something so beautiful being created by nature. I love nature and I want to take care of it as much as I can.

Aloha and welcome to my shop. 'Pearl of the Pacific' was my grandfather's nickname for me and it reminds me of why I love my life and creating beautiful things for others. I am very conscious of the environment so I have made efforts to make my shop as sustainable as possible. I hope you enjoy browsing through my store and remember that every piece is made with love and caring. Please don't hesitate to request a custom item if you see a design but would like a different color or type of bead or yarn.
