Announcement    My family has a long history of artists and I am proud to carry on the tradition. I have loved creating as far back as I can remember. I pursue artistic creation in many media, but my passion lies in the creation of jewelry, one of a kind, eclectic creations. My jewelry creations are for all women to embellish your wardrobe.

For my jewelry pieces I use gold filled wire (see below), sterling silver, copper, cloth, vintage buttons and many types of beads. I have been creating beautiful, wearable pieces of art since 2003. I am delighted that you have taken time to view my collection! Welcome to the shop!

My career has been Nursing for over 30 years. My last job was in New Mexico where I worked as a school nurse. The school district I worked in is one of the most disadvantaged in the area. The children were delightful and stole my heart. I will donate 15% of all my sales to the children at the school. This will be in the form of much needed personal items such as shoes, chap stick and toiletries. Your purchase will help make a difference in the life of a child! Thanks for your purchase!

About PEARLSBIJOUX

Sales 25
On Etsy since 2009

I need a bracelet to match my earrings, hmmmm, I think I will make one!

I started making jewelry when I needed a piece for my personal wardrobe. I made use of the tools I bought for my daughter as a gift, she never took to jewelry making. Since then I have taken many classes in metal work and jewelry design. I have been making eclectic wearable pieces of art since 2003. I love what I do and continually strive to make functional, original designs. Thanks for viewing my work.

Welcome to the shop! Here are a few facts about how my jewelry pieces are crafted and the materials used.

Attention to detail is an important practice in my jewelry design. I meticulously smooth metal components such as ear wires or wire charms. A finished edge is crucial to insure item is comfortable to wear. Pieces such as necklaces and bracelets are finished with wire guards and crimp covers at clasp providing for a clean professional finish.

THE PEARLS ..... Pearls used in my work are A or B grade. These are the 2 top grades available. Pearls are graded by their consistent color throughout, their shape, luster and visible surface defects. Most freshwater pearls are dyed. Natural color in a strand of pearls would make them very costly as only one pearl is created in a shell.

ABOUT WIRE GUARDS and CRIMP COVERS.... My fastenings are of high quality. Wire guards are the tiny horseshoe shaped piece that conceals and protects the wire at the clasp. Crimp covers are the small bead like piece at the end of the strand. It conceals the metal tube (the crimp) that is used to close the end of the necklace or bracelet. Using these items in creating a piece of jewelry provides for a clean attractive finish and durability of wear.

Gold filled metal versus gold plated metals...

Gold filled metal is required to have 5% of gold used. Karate can be 12 or 14. The gold is applied to the core metal, usually brass, using heat and pressure in 2-3 layers. The product is easy to care for and is durable. Heat and water does not damage the item.

Gold plated metals do not have as much gold content, usually .05% or less. Electroplating or dipping is the process used to attach the gold. Gold plated items tend to peel or chip over time and do not stand up well to heat or water.

Please follow care instructions. Proper care of your artisan jewelry purchase will insure many years of wear.
