Announcement   Hi! I'm so happy you stopped by! Is your kid napping or sleeping? I'll try to be quick... My shop carries baby bibs and toys, lunch accessories, & more. All carefully crafted to help moms by doing what they're supposed to--absorb teething drool, keep food off of beginning eaters, and spark imagination! Everything is easy to care for, because who has time for complicated instructions? I have two under five, so not me! And everything is made to last because no one likes when their stuff falls apart in the wash. And since I am a big fan of instant gratification, everything you see is ready-to-ship!

Want another reason to choose pen&thimble over that other cute bib you saw? My handmade items are certified and meet the standards set by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) for Children's Products and the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). All materials used to create our products have undergone, and passed, third-party lab testing to meet federal safety requirements. This is an important requirement that I take seriously. Only the best for our babies!

If you like what you see, sign up for "ampersand," my monthly email goodie bag! http://eepurl.com/bONjJD No spam ever! Just pen&thimble treats including mom-talk, item previews, and behind-the-scenes peeks sent on or around the 15th of every month! I don't run sales or promotions often, but when I do, my email group knows about them first! :) Copy and paste this link into your browser [ http://eepurl.com/bONjJD ] to sign up today!

These reuseable napkins are the cutest. I wish I had gotten them for my kids lunches at the beginning of the school year, but they will be perfect for our summer picnic outings. Thanks so much for the super fast shipping and the adorable packaging. I'll be getting more for next school year!

First off, these clips are adorable!! My six year old daughter has very fine, long hair and these clips didn't fall out! I'm so glad I got the red, white and ble ones. They will be perfect for the summer holidays coming up! And the packaging is super adorable.

"It takes a village to raise a kid." I just wish that village was around for the after dinner clean-up. Am I right?! joy+1
•Eat• I'm trying to make napkins as fast as you're buying them up! Grab these bears before they're gone fishin'!

About

How can I make your day brighter?

Shortly after my first child was born, nearly five years ago, I convinced a few of my girlfriends to take a sewing class with me so I could learn to hem pants. (We are a short-legged family.) At this point I didn't even know how to thread a needle and I was more than a little intimidated by the sewing machines. I was by far the worst in the class. But that didn't matter. I was so in love!

I left that class, bought a sewing machine, taught myself to sew by sewing nearly every day. Any pattern I could find--bags, dresses, iPad cases, anything my toddler would like. Making things with my own two hands (and my trusty machine Maggie) was so empowering, entertaining, and satisfying. I finally had found "me."

But sewing really became my passion when I started designing and crafting useful items--bibs that covered my toddler and kept her dry while she ate, teething toys that engaged my second baby, bibs that absorbed tons of teething drool! I was like, "Whoa! I want to make these for other moms too!"

I love Etsy as a platform to share my passion with you! I thrive on creating useful, effective items for moms who just need the baby and kid things to do what they're supposed to. And while I do that, I'm striving to make moms happy--happy that you got what you paid for, that you have one less ill-timed outfit change to worry about. I always want to know how can I help you? How can I make your day brighter?

To check out more of my story, meet my two little creative inspirations, giggle at/roll your eyes at my puns, check me out on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter: @penandthimble. Just as a heads up, I've gotten super into IG stories!

Shipping
You choose if you would like your items shipped USPS First Class or USPS Priority Mail. Priority Mail has a quicker ship time and includes insurance in the event of damage or loss. First Class does not include insurance. If you are worried about your package getting lost or damaged, please select Priority Mail to cover expenses in the event of this very rare occurrence. (Hasn't happened to my customers yet! Knock on wood!) Otherwise, we assume no responsibility after your packages are in the hands of USPS.

If your country is not listed in the shipping options, please message me and I may be able to add it for you, but I do not cover customs costs.

I cannot guarantee delivery date, but will let you know when your item was shipped and provide you with a USPS tracking number.

If you are in the Pioneer Valley (Massachusetts) and want to pick up your item in Amherst, please use the code PIOVALLEY and the shipping fee will be waived. Message me to coordinate a meeting time/location.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you are unhappy with your purchase upon receipt, please inform me and return the item within 14 days for a full refund (excluding shipping costs). You are responsible for any returned shipping costs and if a product is lost in the mail, I am not responsible for replacing the item. Refunds will be granted when returned item received.

All items must be returned in original condition. If you wash it, you bought it.
Additional policies and FAQs
At your request, I am happy to create a reserve listing, or "Special Order," of multiple items to make shopping easier for you! I will let you know when your reserve listing is ready and you will have three business days to purchase your reserve listing. After three days, I will assume you have changed your mind and make the items available to everyone again.

All items are made in a smoke-free and, sadly due to allergies, animal-free workspace. When I do have a four-legged sewing companion one day, she would be a Newfoundland named Nan.

Since every handmade item is a little different, I try to offer as many close-up photos as I can. I want you to get a true sense of the product so that you can determine if my handmade style is for you. Although I am serious about my craft, and creating quality well-made pieces, I think the beauty in handmade goods is in the slight imperfections.

What does it mean that our shop items are compliant with CPSC and CPSIA for Children's Products?

It means different things for different products.

But, in short, it means that our resin snaps have passed tests for phthalates and lead content. The fabrics we use have passed flammability tests for clothing textiles. The organic wood rings we use have passed heavy metals, small parts, and mechanical hazards testing.

We have collected federal standards compliance documentation for every item used to create a product in the shop and, in turn, carry certification of each item we produce.

So you can rest assured you are getting handmade quality that meets federal safety requirements.

Safety compliance is important to us. And small handmade businesses aren't exempt from these requirements.
