5 out of 5 starsOh My Goodness! This is the most awesome wrapping paper I have ever seen. The design is so great that if it was on fabric I'd make myself a set of curtains, a duvet cover and a matching set of pj's. I guess being a cat fan helps! Thanks so much.

Penguins, penguins and more penguins!
I started drawing to communicate how I experience the world with autism. Being autistic, I am very passionate about certain subjects - my 'special interests'. One of my special interests is penguins - I think they are very cute and funny - and another is drawing, so what I love most is drawing penguins and making people smile!
My way of creating my artwork is to draw out everything in black felt pens and fineliners, scan it into my computer, edit it and then add colour using Adobe Photoshop. I also colour in the originals using my chameleon pens, but I prefer adding colour using my computer because then I have a much larger range of colours to chose from and everything is much neater! I am a bit of a perfectionist.
I also draw a character called Aspen, who is a cartoon version of me. I use her to raise awareness of autism and she has been featured in an e-learning module teaching local council staff about autism which was a finalist in The Glasgow Flourish Awards.
My work has been shown in many exhibitions at Project Ability in Glasgow (which is an art project for people with disabilities and mental health conditions) which I attend and the Gallery on the Corner in Edinburgh. I have made and sold several booklets featuring Aspen, two about metaphors and one about how I experience the world with autism. My Mum sells my cards and gifts at local craft fairs in Edinburgh where she lives and to independent shops and galleries. I rely on my Mum to run my business as I have a long term health condition in addition to my autism which means I am often unwell. This also allows me to concentrate on my artwork, so we make a good team!
In July 2013 I was a finalist in the 2D category of a national competition called 'Create! Art for Autism'. The competition is open to anyone aged 11 - 25 with a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder. (www.createartforautism.com)
In 2015 I was runner up in The National Autistic Society Art Competition and runner up in The Hershley Group Art Competition.
I have also illustrated a children's book called 'Vera McLuckie and the Daydream club' by Jane Evans which is about children with differences and of course features penguins!
The highlight of last year was my own solo exhibition and this year I was chosen to paint one of the 80 penguin sculptures for Maggie's Penguin Parade in Dundee.
I have a facebook page - www.facebook.com/penguinparadeUK where you can see my latest drawings and a website www.penguinparade.co.uk Instagram @penguinparadeshop
Thank you for reading my page and visiting my shop. I hope I have made you smile :)
