Announcement   ATTENTION: Hippie Chic Oil Bottles and Authentic French Butter Dishes sell out fast, on and off line. If you see one in my PREVIOUSLY SOLD items that you want, contact me to reserve it in my next firing.

Welcome to Perry Pottery and my collection of handmade pottery. Here you'll find stoneware or porcelain coffee cups, oven-safe casseroles, garlic keepers, pestle and mortar sets, bowls, decorative vases, and two of my biggest sellers: the "Hippie Chic" olive oil bottle and the Authentic French Butter Dish.

It’s important for you to know that I throw, hand-build, trim, and glaze every piece I make. I don't use molds, and I don't hire outside help or other potters to turn or finish any of my pieces.

When you see my potter's mark on the underside of a functional or decorative piece, (my signature, if you will), you can be sure that I made it from start to finish.

I also fire my work in a gas kiln.

This means each piece is put into a fire for 8-10 hours.

As a result of the flames and the temperature fluctuations that I manipulate, each piece ends up with textures, tones, and visual effects that are virtually impossible to obtain in a typical, much less-expensive firing method using a common electric kiln.

This special gas-firing process, and the fact that I make every piece by hand, means a smaller collection of original pieces with the highest quality possible.

It also means that no two pieces will ever be the same.

Isn't that what you want when you're looking for a gift for yourself or for someone you care about?

Don't you want to give them something special? Something that could always in style.

Something that says you took the time out of your busy schedule to find the perfect gift because that's how important they are to you?

Something that doesn't look or feel like it's come off an assembly-line; like the kind of mass-produced pottery you find in stores all the time?

I think most of us would go for something original and timeless.

And that's been my goal ever since I put my hands in clay: Perry Pottery must always make it special.

I'll be adding to my collection periodically, so please keep visiting to check out some of my latest creations.

All the best,

Updates

A new lot of Hippie Chic oil bottles sitting in a gas kiln. Glazed and about to be fired at 2300 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 hours. Check out the final pieces for comparison. The results are always surprising. Like pieces of art!
Once air dried and before the first of two firings, I sand every piece of my collection by hand.

About

My Journey...

When I think about it, making handmade pottery out of stoneware or porcelain, whether it's a teapot, a whimsical coffee cup, or a one-a- kind art piece, has been a life-long creative journey.

It's a journey that started in primary school when I first learned how to knit, crochet, and make my own clothes. I still have the crocheted poncho I made in high school and it's back in style!

Later on, I took a three-year course in haute couture, where I created exclusive custom-fitted clothes, like winter coats and suits.

I also made my own wedding dress! Don't ask if it still fits!

But I wasn't finished.

While pursuing a business degree in university, I made customized pillows, curtains, and chair covers.

Then I took a sharp right turn into paper crafts, then a quick left into needle point and decorative painting.

I have even spent time refurbishing old furniture and antique doors!

So the day I discovered pottery my husband, Mark, wasn’t surprised.

After three years of full-time art and pottery courses, learning glaze technology, and reduction, wood, and raku firing from master potters from around the world, I have finally arrived at a place where I feel I belong.

Today, I draw from all my different artistic expressions and somehow it influences my pottery.

One thing is sure, every piece I make is with the same excitement and passion I had when I was that little girl.

I hope my creations will also bring you many years of pleasure and equally-fond memories.

HANDLING

My husband and I are obsessive about the way we pack our pottery.

All pieces are individually wrapped using biodegradable bubble wrap, surrounded by a special, recycled packing paper and a thick cushion of ozone-friendly, recyclable foam peanuts.

If necessary, heavy items will be double-boxed, with additional bubble wrap, extra packing paper, and even more foam peanuts for added protection.
Additional policies and FAQs
Please note, the colors of the pieces can be slightly different due to the nature of gas firing, and the way I glaze. That's what make each piece truly one of a kind.

The colors may also vary slightly due to differences in computer monitor settings.

Also if you'd like to see more photos of the item you're considering, simply let me know, and I'll send you some.

Prices do not include any duties or taxes, if applicable. They are the responsibility of the customer.
