My brother (aged 12, read first one when 10) absolutely DEVOURS these books! (And I, as an adult, enjoy them too!) Just bought the last four; asked for them to be signed, and Roy signed each of them with a slightly different message to him. Overall service is excellent, and shipping is prompt and fairly priced.

The books follow a teenaged boy who has built a submarine and explores the world with it. Far from tacky, the books makes clear what it really takes to build an run a complicated submarine, and tackle real places, historical problems, and relevant ideas, such as the aftermath of WWII in some parts of the world, redemptive beauty within the complication of broken families, and the issue of the quantity of plastic in the ocean; a different theme in each book. Well-paced, these delightful books are full of adventure!

Signed Books Sold Here!

It seemed only logical to offer at least one option for people to buy our books directly--and have them signed! So lo and behold, etsy. com has been the solution! There is still a rather rich story that we intend to share about our business, but suffice it to say for now that we are indeed a family business, and we work very hard at what we do, each and every day....

(Please note: If you'd prefer not to purchase our books through this site, but still wish to buy signed copies directly from us, please e-mail us at leilamerl28 [!at] gmail.com. We can accept cheques through the mail, e-mail transfers, (EMT), as well as credit card transactions using a Square Reader. You can also find out more about us, as well as our books, through our website: http://philiproy.ca. Happy reading to all!) :)

  • Philip Roy

    Owner, Author

Philip is from Antigonish, Nova Scotia. His love for the ocean led to the Submarine Outlaw series. He lives in Ontario with his family. Awards include first prize in the Atlantic Writing Competition, and CLA, Red Maple & Silver Birch nominations.

  • Leila Merl

    Owner, Agent

Leila is Philip's wife and publicist. A former high school English teacher, Leila is also a poet. Leila is always happy to correspond with fans, and she strives to send out orders with lightning speed (despite Canada Post's "alternate" timetable!) :)

  • Ollie, "the Second Wonder Cat"

    Customer Service, Owner

Ollie, (a.k.a. Oliver) is Fritzi, the original Wonder Cat's successor. Much like his beloved predecessor, Ollie is quite an intrepid traveller by car. He is also equally gifted at leaving paw prints on books and mailing supplies.

  • Wee One 1

    Owner, Assistant

This is our first little guy, Julian. He LOVES books, reading, animals, and drawing. Seas of South Africa was dedicated to him, and he is quite gifted at intervening whenever Mommy is typing, writing, or putting packages together! :)

  • Wee One 2

    Owner, Assistant

This is our Little Eva. Eco Warrior was dedicated to her, and we suspect, through her keen powers of observation as well as her aptitude for listening closely, that she will one day be a writer, poet and/or musician, (but only time will tell!) :)

Payment
Our preferred method of payment is the major credit card of your choice or Paypal. We will also accept a personal cheque or money order drawn from a Canadian or United States bank. Cheques can be made out to Philip Roy. Our mailing address is 131 Church Street, Brockville, Ontario K6V 3Y3, Canada. Five working days is normally required for clearance of a Canadian cheque. Traditionally, it takes ten working days for a US cheque to clear. If you wish to order DIRECTLY through us, (i.e. not via etsy.com), we can also accept e-mail transfers, cheques through the mail, and even credit card transactions over the phone using a Square Reader. Please e-mail Leila at leilamerl28 [!at] gmail.com if you would prefer an alternative to this site, (via etsy.com.) Thanks!
Shipping
Unless it is cheaper to use other vendors, we will send your books via Canada Post. On occasion, it is more cost-effective to send your books separately, (so please do not be alarmed if you receive separate shipments.) We always do our very best to send your books immediately. In the interest of being environmentally-friendly, we often use recycled materials/paper for packaging.

When mailing costs are significantly less than what has been assessed by etsy.com, (i.e. at least $1.50 in USD less than what we have charged), we will do our best to issue you a fair and appropriate refund for shipping overage. Canada Post's rates tend to be exorbitant, but occasionally when larger orders are sent, the cost of mailing might be significantly less than what etsy.com has calculated. In such cases, we will endeavour to issue you a commensurate refund.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us!

All the best,
Leila, Philip, Julian, Eva, Fritzi the Wonder Cat in Spirit, and Ollie the Other Wonder Cat :) =^.^=
