About

Philosophia Creations: how it began, and why it's still going...

My shop first opened as "Philosophia Artisan Creations" in around the middle of 2010, while I was working toward my first degree. I had been looking for an artistic outlet which would help me to stay grounded while I was studying. Jewelry making itself has been a hobby I've enjoyed in fits & spurts since about seventh grade, and so when a friend introduced me to Etsy, I decided to delve into it once again.
This is a one-person shop, run by myself (Michelle) & out of my home. It's maintained on a part-time basis and has evolved with me over the years. These days, I use my store as a way to fuel my passion for gemstones and crystals. It really makes me feel privileged to be able to learn about & integrate these stones into my jewelry to present to my buyers. Each and every stone I acquire means something to me and has a story. Each stone speaks to me differently, and I try to let this inform my designs. My aesthetic might often be simpler, but there’s still an awful lot of heart invested into everything I create.

I’m thirty-one and engaged to my best friend. We live in rural Saint John with our kitty named Clover; one of the quirkiest felines you’ll ever meet. My educational background is in research, as well as in philosophy and I also have some business training.

I do sell locally and am open to pickup on local orders as well – just send related inquiries my way.

Please take the time to read through my shop policies if you’re interested in purchasing any of my items. If you need clarification on any aspect of what you read or if you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Buyer satisfaction is at the forefront for me and I always want to do whatever I can to make my customers happy.

Remember that I'm always open to custom order inquiries too, so if you are interested in something like this then please send a convo my way!

Payment
All payments are accepted via Etsy Payments, which gives buyers an array of options. You can get an accurate & up-to-date summary of these accepted payment methods when you go to check out.

** Customers should also be advised that they are responsible for any extra customs fees involved with shipping an item to their destination. I am not eligible to collect duty or taxes on any of my items.

Items can be placed on reserve and I don’t presently have a designated time limit for these reservations. Contact me, let me know what item you’re interested in and how long you’d need a reservation to last. We will move forward from there.

Once payment is cleared, I usually have orders shipped within one (1) business day. You can check my shop policies for an up to date estimate of current processing times.
Shipping

All of my orders are shipped via Canada Post. For items traveling to destinations throughout Canada and the United States, a general estimate for the arrival of a package is within 5-8 business days. The method I usually use is either Small or Light Packet USA. Upgrades are available, including Tracked Packet USA which estimates business 6 days for arrival.
I am located in New Brunswick, Canada. Domestic orders typically arrive in the range of 3-5 business days, and I offer upgrades which can be found within specific listings.
I’m willing to ship internationally beyond the United States. If you are a prospective international buyer and you’d like to get a more precise estimate of shipping time to your location, please do not hesitate to contact me.

All orders are lovingly packaged for shipment. I will often wrap purchases with bubble wrap, tissue paper, or small boxes – whatever I have in stock at the moment basically, and whatever I feel a piece needs to ensure its safe arrival to your destination. I’m quite attached to a lot of my creations and I want my buyers to be happy with their purchase, and so I put a lot of care into making sure that everything is secure and safe on its journey to your home. I take special care to be certain that pieces with fragile components are packaged appropriately for shipment.

Prior to submitting your order, please remember to make sure that your mailing address is accurate. Any significant disparities could result in a shipping delay. That being said, if your order is intended to be a gift and you'd like for it to be sent to another address, please convo me prior to or immediately following your purchase to let me know. Also if you're ordering multiple pieces as gifts, let me know and I will package them separately for shipment.

AFTER YOUR PURCHASE: I always prefer to include a non-automated email to confirm that I've received your payment. You will also receive a shipping confirmation from me once your order has been sent. Processing times for specific items can be found within their listings. If there’s any reason for your parcel’s shipment to be delayed, I’ll let you know via Etsy email. My announcements are the first place where I’ll announce specific circumstances delaying my mailing of orders, so you can always find up to date information there.
Refunds and Exchanges
Refunds are dealt with on a case by case basis. If you have any concerns then please do not hesitate to contact me. I'm always open to hearing your concerns and we will work something out. If a refund or exchange is deemed appropriate in a given situation, I ask that the buyer pays return shipping costs to have the item sent back to me. It is only after I receive the item that a refund (minus my initial shipping costs) will be issued.

Exchanges may be allowed in some cases, but not for earrings (this is for hygenic reasons). I tend to treat exchanges in a similar fashion to refunds - I will have you send the item back to me & subsequently you will receive a refund for your purchase price (again, minus my initial shipping costs). Meanwhile, I'll place another listing on reserve for you.

WHOLESALE & CONSIGNMENT: Recently I have become interested in the prospect of branching into selling my creations through consignment. Please contact me with related inquiries.

CUSTOM ORDERS: Custom orders can be a lot of fun, so please feel free to send an inquiry my way! In some cases, deposits may be requested (depending on the complexity & overall price of your item).
Simple customizations, like having an item resized, generally do not cost anything extra except in rare cases. Example scenarios are when the beads are quite expensive, or if you want an upgrade to sterling silver components.
