porcelain sgraffito pottery

Buyers are raving!

This shop got multiple 5-star reviews in the past 7 days.

Announcement    I have started work on the next kiln. I'll be throwing and carving this week ,hoping for a firing around the 20th. Holidays are coming up. If you want a specific mug, the earlier you tell me the more likely I will have it for you . I will probably have 3 more kilns before the new year..

If you are trying to purchase more than one mug, please use the 2 mug listing so the shipping charges will work out or contact me about shipping at the time of purchase.

Pickerelweed is a perennial found in ponds and shallow rivers throughout the eastern US. It has a broad flat leaf that emerges on a thin tubular stock. In late summer a purple rod-like flower appears. I spend time as I am able among the pickerelweed in the Adirondacks.

I work primarily in porcelain both for the color and the feel of the clay. My imagery tends to be inspired by elements of the natural world in northern New England and the Adirondacks. I enjoy the steady rhythm of the carving process.

My dragon mugs are beautiful. I love that there is a dragon on both sides of the mug. Most mugs only have the design on one. The inside colors are also rich and very soothing. I will buy more mugs as gifts for friends. Great customer service, too.

This is, quite simply, a lovely mug. Thank you too for going the extra mile and creating one with the color is requested. ❤️

I'm a practical sort of guy so for me to spend more than a few bucks for a mug you know that the purchase must be special. Great craftsmanship and my favorite song bird all in one. How could I resist?

Thank you for visiting my shop.
Pickerelweed pottery is run by Kerry Shea, teacher, scholar, hiker, paddler, potter who resides in Saranac Lake, NY and northern Vermont.
She works almost exclusively in porcelain for its creamy white color and sensuous texture. Pots are painted in black (or dark green) slip and then carved with images from the natural world to achieve a woodcut appearance. Because pots are carved freehand, no two will be identical .
Pots have clear exterior glaze and green celedon, turquoise, red celedon, blue celedon or clear interior and are fired in an electric kiln to cone 6.
