About Pigeonroof Studios

Pigeonroof Studios has been offering hand dyed yarn and spinning fiber since 2007. Founded by Krista McCurdy, she uses her extensive training as a printmaker and fine artist to create the innovative and modern colors Pigeonroof Studios has become known for.

Our studio uses professional acid dyes, using food grade citric acid as a mordant. Our dyeing techniques are variations of kettle dyeing, developed over the years to achieve our signature colours. These techniques result in yarn that will resist pooling, making all our colors suitable for whatever project is chosen. Due to the nature of kettle dyeing, occasionally in our semi-solids you may see specks of other colors.

We dye in very small batches-- spinning fiber is dyed 4 oz at a time individually, and our yarn is dyed in anywhere from two to six skeins per dye lot. For hand dyed yarn, our dye lots are quite consistent, but they will never match exactly, so either make sure to purchase enough for your project or place a custom order. Either way, we strongly suggest that you always alternate skeins when knitting.

Payment
We currently accept Paypal and Etsy Direct Checkout for payment. We reserve the right to cancel any order, and will issue a refund if we do so. Sales tax is added for California residents.
Shipping
We ship first class for orders under 13 oz and Priority for orders above within the United States. Elsewhere we ship First Class International. First Class International does NOT guarantee full tracking, and is not eligible for filing claims in case of loss or damage to package. If you wish to purchase insurance, and/or change shipping method, please let us know and we will invoice you accordingly.

We ship within 3-5 days of receiving your order.

Once your purchase leaves our hands and enters the USPS system, we are no longer financially or otherwise responsible for it.

Please note that orders shipped First Class International can take up to a month in some cases to reach their destination, especially if they are large packages and the country in question is located at a very large distance away from the United States. We do NOT have control over the post office, and do not have access to any more information than you do with the customs number once it leaves the United States.
Refunds and Exchanges
Returns: We have a 30 day return policy. If, for whatever reason, you are not happy with your purchase, you have thirty days within which to return it for a complete refund. Items must be in the original condition. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. Please notify us before returning anything. We will not accept or refund products returned to us without notice.

We do not offer refunds in case of loss or damage through the postal system.
Additional policies and FAQs
Our products come from a non-smoking but pet-friendly studio-- however, the cats are outside ones and do not touch the yarn or fiber.
