Necklast is absolutely beautiful although it doesn't have the same turquoise coloring to it. It is a gorgeous gray stone and I will not be returning it because of the color. The seller was very nice to actually resize the necklace as it was too small for me.

About

Contemporary beaded jewelry with an ethnic flair.

If I could pin-point the moment when jewellery became an integral part of my life, it would be during a jewelry workshop hosted by my high school art club.

I was fascinated by this medium where you could combine the beauty of natural and crafted beads with design to make wearable art. After learning a few simple techniques, I went out to buy my own supplies which has grown into a large collection of semi precious stones, silver, leather, glass, wood, ceramic, pearl, and ethnic beads which I have collected on my travels.

After finishing my studies at university in Urban Planning I decided to pursue a jewelry design and fabrication course at l’Arti Orafe in Florence, Italy. There I explored metal smiting, wax molding, jewelry design, trend forecasting, and working with unusual and unique materials. Since my return I started my own jewelry line called Pikay Creations.

After much support and enthusiasm from friends and family about my new jewelry line, I started exhibiting at a variety of craft shows throughout Toronto and eventually opened an online store through Etsy in the February of 2012 and a company website in 2013.

Having family ties to Kenya, I try to incorporated many types of African beads; handmade brass, recycled glass, paper, bone and resin beads, to make contemporary jewelry with an African flair.

Recently I have developed a line of African print bags all made with Ankara fabric from Ghana. This line includes make-up bags, clutch purses and tablet cases in bright cheerful colors.
