my melting story

I started melting glass in 2010 after getting obsessed with glass beads which I had from a bracelet that I was gifted as a child. Eventually some broke and I turned it into a necklace. Wearing this necklace one day I decided I would learn how to make these beads, no matter what. I started searching "how to" on Google, and in a matter of days I thought I'd seen every video on YouTube, read every answer in every forum, and knew enough to actually get into this "hobby"... So I ordered supplies online, since there are none to buy in Panama... and it all began as soon as the package arrived at the post office. The journey I would embark on, was like nothing I had expected.

Read about my hilarious first day at lampworking, and more, here:
http://gabiloraine.blogspot.com/2010/05/lampworking-disaster.html

Over the past years I have burned and cut myself, run out of gas at really inconvenient times, wasted materials, pushed through my limits and experimented with different colors, techniques, torches, and styles. I cannot say I have arrived yet - I am still learning and having so much fun.
I learned SO MUCH and made so many friends on this great resource called Lampworketc.com. Now I'm Facebook friends with some of the world's amazing glass artists and it still feels unreal.
In 2017 I was finally able to take my first real class in Murano, under renown glass artist Davide Penso. Later in Mexico, I ran into Romero Gurman and took a class there too.

This journey... is still just beginning!

This is a one woman show! I don't know how I could possibly describe myself or give you a history of my life in 250 characters or less. I guess I can say, I love art. I love anything that has to do with producing beautiful designs, and learning.
