About

We started this from an inspiration to make wonderful toys for our own daughter and now we get to share these toys with people all over the world!

Welcome to Pinkhouse Handworks. This is the name I chose several years ago for a little business I hoped to have one day. I didn't even know what the business we be for! The birth of our first child in November 2007 has made the business a reality. After being a Montessori guide in Austin, Texas for 10 years, I left my classroom to be at home with my daughter.

With a Montessori background myself (I attended Montessori school from 2 1/2 to 11 years old and assisted in children’s house, elementary and middle school levels before training) and generous friends with the Montessori Birth to 3 training, I set out to make the special items from their trainings for my daughter. With the help of my husbands carpentry skills, I found that we could make multiples fairly easily, and I began to piece together the collection of what I now call Montessori Baby Toys.

We started up our Etsy shop in 2008 and have watched it grow gradually. We have had the pleasure of shipping over 1700 orders to the North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia through Etsy. It's been a real pleasure to be a part of the Etsy family and watch Etsy grow and improve along the way.

In addition to Etsy we sell our toys through The Michael Olaf Company which is a great resource for families. Their web site if full of informative videos, article and product to support families world wide. http://www.michaelolaf.net/

In 2009 we shipped several sets of toys off to a toy testing lab and had them go through the full tests for toy safety. All of our toys passed and so we feel at ease in offering them to babies.

Running this little home business has been like nothing I have ever done before, much like being a parent. I am learning daily from this experience. I feel grateful that my husband and I get to to prepare these toys for infants and am delighted they have found their way out into the larger world.

With the wonderful support of family and friends, we hope to continue making baby toys for infants for a long time.

I love to be a mother and a wife and take great pleasure in making things. Montessori philosophy is the driving force behind everything I do and think.

Thanks so much for coming to take a look at my toys! I started to make these when my daughter was born in November 2007. I started to sell the bag of Montessori Baby Toys in the fall of 2008 and they have been selling well in the United States, as well as Canada, Australia, Europe and Asia and South America!

This is a link to my web site. www.pinkhousehandworks.com

Please also see my toys in the Joyful Child web site from the Michael Olaf Company, which is a great resource for all kinds of information and product for families. http://www.michaelolaf.com/JCcontents.html

I attended Austin Montessori School in Austin, Texas from the age of 2 1/2 to 11 years old and was a children's house guide there for ten years. Needless to say, Montessori is a huge part of my life and being able to offer these toys and spread the word about Montessori is a pleasure.

Payment
I accept PayPal, credit cards, checks and money orders. If you plan to use a check or money order, I will wait until your payment clears before shipping your purchase.
Shipping
I ship every few days via United States Postal Service. I love getting to ship internationally!

You product will arrive wrapped in tissue paper with your receipt.

If you live locally and would like to pick up your order, please let me know ahead of time so I can prepare a special item listing for you that excludes shipping costs.

I am happy to ship to a Giftee's address, but please send me a message when you place your order so I can exclude the receipt from the box. If you would like a gift card included, please specify who to address the card to, what you would like it to say, and who it is from. I write the note on a small, pretty card in cursive.

Shipping discounts apply when you order more than one item.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you are not satisfied with your order please contact me and I will be happy to work with you to resolve the situation.

The only item we have that has potential to break are the interlocking discs. They can last a lifetime but if they get stepped on or crunched into a bag they can come apart and be broken. As long as you give them some space they should be fine. We do not use glue on any of the toys, including the discs. If the discs come apart, they should be able to be pushed back together.

We are not responsible for loss during shipping, although I've never had that happen, even to Singapore!
Additional policies and FAQs
The best way to contact me is through a Conversation from my Etsy page. If you are placing an order and would like to specify certain information or directions, please include them in the Message To The Buyer section.

Please let me know if you have a special request for a rattle in a different color, I'll see what I can do.
