Every once in a while I find that for what I want to do, the right pattern doesn't exist. So I make one. Then, after some time and tweaking and digital magic, a pattern is ready to share with the world.

Since 1995 I've been a sewist and a pattern maker, happily playing in my fabric hoard and mashing up commercial patterns with my own designs to make something new from my imagination. In 2016-2019 I was operating a sewing studio/maker space and teaching community interest classes. During this time, my daughter asked for my help to make her grandmother a special gift. Granny has a bad habit of burning herself on her oven door, as her oven mitts don't go up high enough. Or not using the oven mitts at all because they are so clumsy. We designed a set of Oven mitts with opposable thumbs, and the first Epic Oven Gauntlet was born. This was my first sewing pattern that I made to sell to others.

In 2018 I closed the sewing studio to focus on making beeswax wraps, and opened my Urban Evergreen Etsy shop in early 2019. However that shop, like so many others was a casualty of the pandemic and I have returned to my roots. I still like to dabble in pattern drafting here and there, especially when I see a need. There may be more to come in the future.

I'm not one to let my sewing machine sit idle, so I also have a second shop www.geekytendencies.etsy.com where I get to indulge my geeky side, and play with more fun prints making RPG accessories.
