Had a lovely chat with the maker / shop owner. She was really friendly and helpful, which was particularly important as the box was for my engagement. It arrived in good time, looking great and with a scroll about the monster's history. Probably the best purchase I've had on Etsy, both from the nice seller and the delightfully monstrous box. Very much recommended.

I just love that little monster. It is a bigger wallet then I am used to, but everything fits really nice and I just went awwwwww when I saw it. Can't wait to receive my custom order, but from I saw from the pictures... OMG this is going to be totally awesome hahaha

I am very satisfied with my new little creature. I had him customized and the seller was very nice and helpful during the process. It came safe and quick and I'm excited to fill up it's stomach with cash.

New monster boxes I've been working on for DragonCon! This guy was trying to hide from me when the enchantment hit. Haha got him! Of course being a monster his personal hygiene is seriously lacking. Just look at those nasty finger nails!
He he monsters are not known for their personal hygiene as you can tell from his toenails! I'm loving how this is progressing!
A new project! What's a monster without hairy monster feet? Hope he turns out as cute as he is in my head!

About

Wicked Creatures, Imagination and Joy

When my three boys were little I made up bedtime stories for them about a fantasy world we named The Wildwyck Woods. I was The Good Witch Pippenwyck and they were the brave, handsome Princes. Together we would take the events of the day and turn them into the stories of the creatures. It became very elaborate. When socks suddenly had holes in them it wasn't because they were old and worn out. Obviously one of the creatures had slipped into our dimension and chewed a hole!! Spilled milk at the dinner table...Naughty Beasties were knocking things about again!! A finger swipe in a just frosted cake...Yep! It had to be a wicked creature. Surely not one of my sweet innocent little boys!

In 2010 I was asked to make a box with a creature face based on those stories. It took me a little over a year to figure out the process and that was the beginning of Pippenwycks! One creature became many and I opened my Etsy shop in December 2011. I simply HAD to find homes for all these wicked creatures!! Today there are creatures of all types from storage boxes to purses to lamps!!

My little cottage has become creature central with my studio located in the back bedroom. There's a large picture window where I can see the garden...and any rogue creatures yet to be caught!! The shipping department is in the office and creature storage is in the garage. My house has become infested with creatures!

Once I have decided on a base, like a purse or box, I start shaping the leather around the eye(s). Once that is "set" I can begin adding additional features like ears, wicked teeth or tails. I just love the ones with tails!! There are six different steps to properly enchant a creature with lots of drying time in between. The actual process is a secret only the cat and I know and she won't tell either! Although they are all wicked creatures they have good hearts....Well, except when they hide my keys!! They find that exceptionally funny.

My wonderful Husband is Head Minion and this wouldn't be possible without him. He is the shipping department as well as CFO, COO and most importantly the love of my life. My boys are grown now with princes and princesses of their own creating their own stories. Although they don't work on the creatures they provide moral support and an endless supply of ideas.

I intentionally try to put good energy into each and every creation so that when the creature goes to it's new home that good energy will spread. It may sound silly but I remember each and every creature. Each gets it's very own story and will bring their own bit of magic to their new home. I truly LOVE creating them and their stories. We get so caught up in the day to day must do's we forget to look for the magic in the simple things. I want people to see their creature and let it remind them to look for the little magic's of the day. To look for the joy. I know, it's just a silly creature with a leather face after all...or is it???

Well, there's my "about" story. You have probably decided I live in my own fantasy world and you would be right. It's a lovely place here with chocolate cake, sweet tea and endless playful creatures. So come and imagine with me. You never know what you might find...Or what might find YOU!!!
