Love my hat. Beautiful color, very warm and actually fits my head. I can never find hats to fit my big head. Very well made!

Love this hat! I wanted this rolled brim style but in the beautiful teal color she uses for other hats (teal is much deeper and jewel toned in person - gorgeous). The shop owner granted my request and in about 3 days sent me picture of my hat! Had it in my hands about 3 days later. Remarkable service! This hat is super soft, too!
Connecting the World Through Warmth
My first book of knitting patterns "Knitted Beanies & Slouchy Hats: 31 Original Designs to Suit Your Style & Attitude" launched on October 1st, 2014. It is available in stores such as Joann's, Michael's, Hobby Lobby and AC Moore as well as online at Barnes & Noble and Amazon. Signed copies are available here in my shop. My second Book is due out in the Fall of 2018.
There is something magical that occurs when you can take a raw material like yarn and turn it into something tangible ..something unique and warm and comforting, something that envelopes you and fosters a sense of security. One of my favorite memories as a child is being cuddled by my Grandmother in an afghan she made with her own two hands out of remnants of raveled sweaters she had made for her nine children. It is a connection I will carry with me throughout my days. Our eldest daughter now owns that afghan, it is my Grandmother's legacy and wrapped within it is where my idea for Pixiebell grew.
I did not know in 2007 that I had so much to say as a designer, I was merely trying to construct a hat for myself that spoke of my own sense of style. I soon realized that I craved this outlet and that although I cannot paint a picture or write a song, I have a voice that needs to be heard in the form of woven bits of yarn and string, a need to comfort and envelope and connect.
I was born and raised in Northfield, Vermont into a family of dairy farmers, professional chefs and stewards of the land. I am a self-taught knitter, crocheter and designer. I have been a proud member of Etsy for 9 years.

Frequently asked questions

Instant Download Patterns will be available for download immediately after payment clears. Check your email associated with your account and/or the purchases section of your account for your download.
Ready To Ship items will ship the following business day after payment clears.
Made To Order items will ship the following business day after the item is made. Currently my made to order turn around is 1 to 3 weeks.
If both Ready To Ship and Made To Order items are purchased in the same transaction, all items will ship together when the made to order items are finished, unless otherwise arranged.
How Will My Items Be Shipped?
Shipping fees are based on the weight of the item in its packaging. Items shipped in the US weighing 15.9 ounces or less are sent via first class mail. Items weighing over 16 ounces are sent via priority. International sales are shipped via first class international.
For smaller weight parcels I most often use polymailers or poly bubble mailers. Larger orders will be sent in a box. Priority parcels are usually sent in tyvek envelopes or USPS priority boxes.
What About International Customs and Duty Fees?
International customers are responsible for all fees associated with shipping to their respective countries. Orders that are shipped to countries outside of the United States may be subject to import taxes, customs duties and fees levied by the destination country. The recipient of an international shipment may be subject to such import taxes, customs duties and fees, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. Additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by the recipient; we have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. Customs policies vary widely from country to country; you should contact your local customs office for further information.
Will You Mark My International Parcel as s Gift?
I'm sorry, no, as it is against the law. All international orders will have full value declared on customs forms - no exceptions.
Do You Really Hand Make Everything Yourselves?
YES! I do not outsource to factories. I am happy to take in-progress photos for you of your items upon request ..in fact, I often do anyway, to post as shop updates.
Do You Take Custom Or Personalized Orders?
If you are interested in an item but would prefer a different color, fiber, size or embellishment (if applicable), feel free to contact me and let me create a custom design for you.
Do You Accept Refunds Or Exchanges?
My goal is for you to be extremely satisfied with your purchase. I stand by my items and make every effort to describe them properly and offer clear photos. Returns will be accepted within 21 days of receiving your purchase, if an item is grossly misrepresented or arrives damaged. Return authorizations are required for proper processing via a conversation. Should you need to return your purchase, you will receive a refund or store credit in the amount of the original purchase, less the shipping.
