I've had this beautiful jade green yarn in my stash for months and have been dying to work with it. Today I made a monarch beret with it and had enough left over to make another beret with cream accents.
The busy days of fall are upon us. It's been another fun day filling orders and knitting up new ideas. These three beanies are made of lovely tweed acrylic yarn! I'm excited about this cozy and slouchy design.
Winter is coming!! I'm working on some Charlotte Split Brim Beanies for the shop. I just need to add the braided ties and they're ready to go!

Connecting the World Through Warmth

My first book of knitting patterns "Knitted Beanies & Slouchy Hats: 31 Original Designs to Suit Your Style & Attitude" launched on October 1st, 2014. It is available in stores such as Joann's, Michael's, Hobby Lobby and AC Moore as well as online at Barnes & Noble and Amazon. Signed copies are available here in my shop. My second Book is due out in the Fall of 2018.

There is something magical that occurs when you can take a raw material like yarn and turn it into something tangible ..something unique and warm and comforting, something that envelopes you and fosters a sense of security. One of my favorite memories as a child is being cuddled by my Grandmother in an afghan she made with her own two hands out of remnants of raveled sweaters she had made for her nine children. It is a connection I will carry with me throughout my days. Our eldest daughter now owns that afghan, it is my Grandmother's legacy and wrapped within it is where my idea for Pixiebell grew.

I did not know in 2007 that I had so much to say as a designer, I was merely trying to construct a hat for myself that spoke of my own sense of style. I soon realized that I craved this outlet and that although I cannot paint a picture or write a song, I have a voice that needs to be heard in the form of woven bits of yarn and string, a need to comfort and envelope and connect.

Not long after teaching myself to knit, my husband asked if I could teach him too. Needing an outlet as well and encouraged by the rhythm and serenity of knitting, he took to it like he'd been knitting his whole life. Now we share an even stronger bond that is truly tight knit.

Meet Diane and Christopher!

Diane - I was born and raised in Northfield, Vermont into a family of dairy farmers, professional chefs and stewards of the land. I am a self-taught knitter and crocheter and the head designer for our brand, Pixiebell. I am the person whom you are communicating with in emails and convos and in the Etsy Forums, I handle the office work, the shipping and about half of the items we handknit and crochet are made by me. I have been a proud member of Etsy for 8 years.

Christopher - I am the son of a police officer and master seamstress from Oneida, New York. I am of Native American descent, a trained butcher, a former construction crew foreman of 17 years and a US Army Veteran. I have been knitting for 7 years and in 2009 joined my wife fulltime to expand our brand. I handknit our Signature Pixiebell hats, our cat beanies, our beehives and cable berets.

Made To Order items will ship the following business day after the item is made. Currently our made to order turn around is 1 to 3 weeks.

How Will My Items Be Shipped?

Shipping fees are based on the weight of the item in its packaging. Items shipped in the US weighing 15.9 ounces or less are sent via first class mail. Items weighing over 16 ounces are sent via priority. International sales are shipped via first class international.

For smaller weight parcels we most often use polymailers or poly bubble mailers. Larger orders will be sent in a box. Priority parcels are usually sent in tyvek envelopes or USPS priority boxes.

What About International Customs and Duty Fees?

International customers are responsible for all fees associated with shipping to their respective countries. Orders that are shipped to countries outside of the United States may be subject to import taxes, customs duties and fees levied by the destination country. The recipient of an international shipment may be subject to such import taxes, customs duties and fees, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. Customs policies vary widely from country to country; you should contact your local customs office for further information.

Will You Mark My International Parcel as s Gift?

I'm sorry, no, as it is against the law. All international orders will have full value declared on customs forms - no exceptions.

Do You Really Hand Make Everything Yourselves?

I am very proud to say, YES! Every item in this shop is designed and knit, loomed or crocheted by myself and my husband. We do not outsource to factories. All items are made by our two (well.. four) hands! I am happy to take in-progress photos for you of your items upon request ..in fact, I often do anyway, to post as shop updates.

Do You Take Custom Or Personalized Orders?

If you are interested in an item but would prefer a different color, fiber, size or embellishment (if applicable), feel free to contact us and let us create a custom design for you.

Do You Accept Refunds Or Exchanges?

Return authorizations are required for proper processing via a conversation.
