Bold and beautiful jewellery

After a career as a jewellery designer I am finally retiring.
I will probably still potter a bit with beads and beading but the urge to sell has left me, and I want to spend more time with my retired husband and travel and relax!
I have always created.
I have painted, made sewn creations, knitted, potted, dabbled in woodwork and metalwork.
But it was living in Tucson Arizona for 2 years that introduced me to the world of beads.
I initially just made some earrings for myself and when I returned to Australia I tried to find some nice beads to continue to make my own earrings as there was nothing available that I liked.
That was in 1995!
From there it just grew. A friend of mine was running a local market and offered me a space there.
I branched out from earrings into brooches, necklaces, bracelets and even anklets (they were cool in those days!)
I found some suppliers of really nice quality czech glass beads.
I experimented with polymer clay and friendly plastic (who remembers friendly plastic?)
I went to a lot of local markets and craft shows.
Then I was accepted as a member of a local art and craft co-operative The Nook Leura.
Eventually someone told me about etsy and here I am!
My favorite materials are amazing glass beads - czech glass, venetian glass and handmade lampwork beads.
I love combining these with semi-precious stones, pearls, shell - anything that is bold and bright.

Oh, and I also do a little bit of beadweaving - because it is fun.
