Announcement For almost 14 years, we have been designing and creating everything handmade for parent, baby and child. Playful Peanut was born shortly after our oldest daughters were born in 2008! We struggled to find the baby gear we needed in designs that we wanted. So we decided to create them. As our families have continued to grow, so has our business. One thing that hasn’t changed, though, is our belief that functional baby gear doesn’t have to be boring! Today we still offer a full line of well-designed, classic products in the latest fabric trends at an affordable price point.

Two Crazy Fun Moms

Our story began 12 years ago when Amanda and I each welcomed a new baby girl into our families. We had the cribs, the strollers and car seats, and all those baby “must haves” but now we were looking for the fun accessories to go along with them that would show off our personal style. We soon discovered that these items we envisioned were hard to find, lacking selection and priced higher than we’d expected. We believed there had to be a better way, so we set out to create the items we were looking for. Through trial and error we put a trendy twist on classic product ideas using quality, designer materials. The response we got from our friends and families suggested we weren’t the only ones in search of these products, and so Playful Peanut was born!

Today our mission is the same. We want to create a line of well-designed, classic products at an affordable price point. We believe every parent should be able to find the items they need in the fabrics they want without breaking the bank. Our fabric stashes are always evolving with the latest trends. We stock almost 60 bolts of fabric so we can complete all orders in a timely fashion. We are grateful for the opportunity Etsy has provided us to be able to stay home with our kids (we now have 3 each!) and share our proudly Canadian handmade items with the world!

Unlike Kari-Ann, I hadn’t really sewn before my oldest daughter was born but I soon found myself making small baby gifts for friends. Little did I know these gifts would turn into the prototypes of many of the items we still sell today!
