Announcement   Welcome to Pointed Needle Designs. I love to create with string and sticks and knitting socks has become my passion.

Pamper yourself and others with one of a kind hand knit socks. I hope you’ll love wearing my socks as much as I love knitting them.

Each pair is a labor of love, with approximately 20 hours spent making sure every detail is perfect. My socks can be seen as a work of art, gently machine washed and blocked upon completion.

All socks are knit in the round, so there are no irritating seams to bother your feet. Socks should be machine washed in cold water and laid flat to dry so they will retain their shape and not felt from the heat of the dryer.

***NOTE**** All items in my shop are hand made by me in my smoke-free pet-free home. Nothing is mass produced!

I welcome custom orders, so if you don't see what you’re looking for or need a different size, just ask.

I also offer shawls and hand knit mittens. I’m also happy to make scarves, hats, and baby blankets upon request.

Please "like" me on Facebook at www.facebook.com/pointedneedledesigns. You can follow me on Twitter @pointedneedle. I'm also on Pinterest and Instagram: @pointedneedle.

These socks are done in a beautiful eyelet pattern in a great, self striping yarn. Ralyne is great to work with, always willing to find interesting yarns and offer helpful suggestions. Her socks are super comfortable. A crocheted doily was an extra little gift. Nice.

About

There's Always Another Project

In 2007, looking for a new hobby, I began knitting and was immediately hooked. After gifting hand knit socks to just about everyone I knew, I realized it wasn’t going to be so easy to stop knitting. After a lot of thought, Pointed Needle Designs was born in 2008.

I work from my home in Las Vegas, selling my items on Etsy and at local craft shows throughout the year. If I had to describe my workspace in one word, it would be organized. All of my supplies, from yarn to needles, have a place, making it easy for me to find whatever skein of yarn or particular type of needle I might need for a project.

The best part about knitting is choosing yarn for a project. There are so many wonderful yarns, from multi-colored to self-striping to solids. I love the self-striping yarns because you don’t know how the pattern is going to turn out until you start knitting. My favorite socks to create are the ones that come from leftover yarn. I love combining colors and patterns to make a truly unique item. I also love vintage items and have collected some vintage knitting books over the years. I’d like to take apart an old sweater and knit something new from it one day.

Pointed Needle Designs is a one-woman operation, everything is handmade by me. It takes approximately 20 hours to knit a pair of socks. I pride myself on creating unique items, although I may occasionally use the same yarn, but with a different pattern, or the same pattern with a different yarn. When you wear a pair of hand knit socks from Pointed Needle Designs, you can be sure they are one of a kind.

I also pride myself on customer service and offering fast turnaround time. All items are mailed the same day or the day after an order is placed. I make sure to answer all customer emails within a few hours of receiving one.

The yarn itself inspires me. Many times I will see a skein of yarn and immediately know what style sock it is best suited for. Other times a skein of yarn can sit for a long period of time before I find the best use for it. I love working with a lot of different colors and textures.

I normally start working from a pattern but inevitably will alter something in the pattern to improve the item. Many times I will cast on a sock and see where the needles take me. Many times I also tink (that’s ripping out – knit spelled backward) an item. I’m a perfectionist and if it isn’t just so or I don’t like how the pattern is working out, I will start over. I’ve been known to tink half a sock if I notice a mistake. My family says it wouldn’t be made by me if it wasn’t started over at least once. I’ve been doing this long enough that I know whether something is right or not. I’d rather take a little longer to complete a project correctly, than just turn out a bunch of partially correct products.

Pointed Needle Designs is always a work in progress. Last year I developed new packaging for my socks. This year I'm working on new price tags for my items. I've also got many more ideas waiting in the wings. If I could only put those needles down long enough!

I enjoy what I do and love hearing how much people appreciate my hard work. Thanks for stopping by!

I've been interested in fiber arts for as long as I can remember. I was a prolific cross-stitcher until my walls became too full of framed pieces. Now I knit. When I'm not knitting, I love reading, browsing antique stores and spending family time.
