Monoprint Experiments Made With Love

My work is influenced by the sociological shift in communities that were originally built around industry, and the remnants of places that no longer exist. I am inspired by architecture and the ever-changing landscape, and photograph places that have a humble, almost forgotten quality; places that have a story. Through the repetition of the printed image, the places I photograph become characters in their own, implied narrative, posing questions about past inhabitants and providing metaphors for the human condition.

I create monoprints using a combination of painting, photography, and printmaking techniques. The process of making a print has always intrigued me. I start with an almost uncontrollable sense of wanderlust, which leads me on photographic expeditions to wherever I happen to go, which leads to a series of silkscreens that I develop from my photos.

The printmaking process: whether involving scraping an etching plate or developing a screen, or cutting a block, or mixing ink, is my meditation. All the works are made by my hands with love and a sense of exploration and experimentation, and a passion for learning more.
