5 out of 5 starsThis tutorial is very well done. I can't wait to try it. Even though I am not a beginner, I was beguiled by the colors and the quality of the tutorial.

My family room makeover inspired a few of my eBooks. I write tutorials for things I want to make for my home and family.

I still occasionally sell my handmades. Here are crochet hooks in progress.

I designed crochet blankets for my family and then wrote up tutorials so anyone can do it, too

I like to make skirts out of vintage sheets from the thrift shop. It's simple and inexpensive.

My newfound fiber addition has fueled my polymer work in unexpected ways: shawl pins, buttons, crochet hook handles...
Crafting a Business, Sustainably
In 1996, I discovered polymer clay. By 2001, I was staying home with my toddler son and running a polymer clay book store on the internet. I also sold much of my own work in polymer.
Eleven years later, excited about my newfound sewing, knitting, and crochet skills, burned out on the mindless stuffing of books into envelopes, and uninterested in the level of production work that would be required in order to make a living off of my handmades, I closed that shop.
Now I find myself in the exciting position of writing my own patterns and tutorials. I get the enjoyment of creating a new product, without the drudgery of having to make 100 of them. I can write an eBook about the process, and share it with far more people than I could if I were selling the finished product.
eBooks allow me to stretch my creative muscles. They allow me to indulge in the techy stuff I find such fun, too: photo editing and ebook layout, to name a few.
This is a much more sustainable business model for me, and I am happy to bring it to Etsy.
I appreciate your support!

I raise boys, take pictures, knit sweaters, keep a less-than-perfect house, blog memories, sew skirts, play with clay, daydream about beach weekends, avoid home improvement projects, crochet blankets, and spend too much time in front of screens...
