Thank you for checking out Polka Dot Mitten! My name is Katie Doucette! Here is a little bit about me:

I have lived in Saugatuck, MI for my whole life. So has most of my family and my husband’s family! I have a husband, two kids and two dogs. We love it here. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🐶🐶

🎨🎨I am mostly self-taught. I took art classes in high school. I went to GVSU for two years, but at that time in my life I wanted to get married and have kids.

🖨I started Polka Dot Mitten in 2013. Before that, I had a gift shop in Douglas with my mom & dad (they’re in Saugatuck now!) And before that, I was a waitress.

✍️I love to hand letter meaningful words, and I’m also very inspired by the lakeshore (but I don’t like to swim in the lake!)

🍎🎃🦃🎄September - December is my favorite time of year.

☕️🍷Some of my art has to do with me… I love positivity. My favorite song is “somewhere over the rainbow.” 🌈 I also like my mornings quiet and my coffee hot. Sometimes I don’t need another inspirational quote, I need another glass of wine. Mostly, I need to pray more and worry less.

🏕🛶 Some of my art has absolutely nothing to do with me. I don’t like camping or outdoorsy stuff, but I enjoy painting or drawing it!

🛍In my studio we make wholesale products for gift shops. We also have a tiny retail shop in the front. We’re usually open Monday-Thursday when we’re shipping orders, but I’m happy to meet you there on a weekend if I know you’re coming!
