Here's a different take on holiday cards. It's a print tucked into a piece of heavy paper, not a folded card. Plenty of room on the back for a handwritten message.
A view from my booth at last weekend's CoolArt show in St Petersburg FL. My hand printed cards were a big hit! Sold so many I need to get back in the studio to make more. Check out my Dance in the Rain card...
Bunnies! This linocut print was made on a press here in my studio. Look at the subtle flecks and petal stains embedded in the paper. Only $9.95 too.

About

Paintings, drawings and prints from Polly's Studio

Once upon a time, I put my art in galleries. Then I moved to Florida, and I showed my art on the street on weekends, outside rain or shine. It was fun to meet and talk with people about my work, but it all got too heavy, and oh, it was very hot sometimes.

Since 2008, I've shared my art with a much wider audience, thanks to my Etsy shop. People in Australia, England and California have purchased art from me. I really enjoy being able to send my work out into the world through Etsy.

My oil paintings are mostly on wood panels. Elements of collage, such as my sketches or prints may be incorporated into the surface. Over several sessions I build up color and depth. I often use sketches as starting points for paintings and prints. I am inspired by the model's pose, by opera, theater and human drama; I also enjoy drawing and painting flora and fauna and the landscapes around me.

Woodcut Prints and cards: I print by hand or on a small Richeson press in my studio. I enjoy the processes of carving the block, rolling the ink and seeing the image emerge.

About Live Model Sketches: Sketching a living model is a timed exercise. The model takes a pose for one minute, five minutes, maybe twenty minutes. I draw what I see, or what strikes me about the pose: the gesture, the big shapes, the negative spaces, the light and shadow. It can be very intense, this way of drawing. Like an athletic or musical performance, it is condensed, vivid and alive. I may do 15 or 20 drawings in a couple hours. Afterwards I review and evaluate them. Most are eventually recycled - but a few hold up as works on their own.

You can see more of my work, and work in progress, on my Flickr page; go the the link below.
Please convo me if you have any questions about my work; I'd love to hear from you.
