Once upon a time....
Once upon a time one of my 4 children wanted a puppet for a school project. A few tutorials later, this frugal mom was on to something magical. My love for puppet making was born and the cuteness I was creating must be shared with the world.
Hi! I am Nicole. I am a Gen X mom of 4 awesome human beings and an early childhood educator. As a child, i grew up on sesame street, The Muppet show, Mr. Rogers, Dr. Seuss and playing outside with friends until it got dark. My younger sister and I played dress up ( we still do) My grandmother and mother made me dolls and teddy bears. These things shaped and inspired me. Now as a mother and someone who works with children, I know that Imaginative play is essential to children. Play is how a child makes sense of the world around them. A puppet can help a shy child feel safe. They engage the imagination. I love to make colorful, soft puppets with loads of personality and expression. I especially love the idea that I get to send my creations out into the world to bring some joy. To inspire imaginative play. To come to life on the hand of a young puppeteer or a puppeteer that is young at heart like me. If it is behind the couch, in the classroom, or on the stage, a ponster puppet will be a great friend for a child and a great addition to your show.

Here is what you should know about my puppets:
They are half body hand puppets about 18 inches long. I machine sew the body which is made from fleece. They are stuffed with polyfil, and then I hand sew and/ or hot glue all other parts..
Eyes: hard plastic dome and post eyes with washers
mouth: corrugated plastic, lined with felt or fleece and hot glued in place.
hair: Feather boa, yarn, faux fur. hand sewn and hot glued on.
For this reason I always recommend that these puppets not be left alone with small children that will want to chew off some hair or an eye...this could be a choking hazard. They are much more fun for babies when they come to life on the hand of a willing puppeteer :)
I have found that one of the best ways to outfit my puppets is baby clothes. I sometimes use second hand baby clothes, sometimes new and then alter them to fit my puppets.Most of the time I do hand make an original outfit.
