As a lifelong dachshund owner/lover, there was no way I was going to miss out on this little guy!! I am having him shadow box framed as a mixed media art for my home. :)
Welcome to the world of Poosac - a curious land of handmade art dolls, quirky creatures, soft sculptures, miniatures & illustrations
Hello and welcome to my little Etsy shop.
I’m Kim, an Edinburgh-based illustrator and textile artist working from my cosy home studio in the beautiful city of Edinburgh.
I’ve been creating weird and wonderful characters for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was a little girl I've always been drawing, painting or scribbling down new ideas in sketchpads or busy with a sewing needle.
I've always had a love of all things quirky, dog-eared and a little bit ‘wrong’ looking. When I was little, I naturally gravitated towards forlorn-looking, moth-eaten toys (my favourite children’s book has always been ‘Dogger’ by Shirley Hughes), so I love creating little characters and illustrations that have a sense of humour and a sense of the ridiculous.
I made the very first Poosac toy in 2000 as a gift for my sister and the collection has been growing steadily ever since. From hand-painted dangly-limbed dolls to delicately stitched woodland creatures, my Poosac creations now take many different forms.
I love to experiment with different materials and recycled fabrics (my studio is filled with endless boxes of printed fabric, soft felt, linens and wadding), and my head is constantly whirring with new ideas so you're likely to see new creatures and designs popping up all the time.
Even though I sketch out my designs before I stitch them, I love to let each little character develop and come to life as it's being created. Sometimes the designs change as I’m working on them. I usually know I’ve got it right when their little faces make me laugh out loud!
I so hope you like my Poosac creations and hope you find something here that makes you smile :)
