Handmade mostly one-of-a-kind Aloha Shirts

I’ve been a nerd since I sat with my dad and watched Saturday morning reruns of Star Trek’s original series. Though I learned to sew from my mother it wasn’t until I learned about Fan Conventions that I really became a costumer and seamstress. I became quiet adept at altering patterns to fit my daughter, from kindergarten through high school. Now I make nerdy tiki Aloha Shirts, because I really like making them. My extended family has all they can use, so here I am at Etsy selling these works of fun and creativity. I hope you find one you like.

The mermaid lady has been creating mermaid art for more than a half century. She’s well known locally, but not internet savvy. I’m helping her get her art out to more people.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders

I happily take orders for custom-made clothing items, but I do not take orders for different sizes of my already posted Aloha Shirts. Most of these shirts are one-of-a-kind, because of the fabric availability. I have 30+ years of experience in garment and costume making. I've made everything from Romulan Robes to Snow White's blue and yellow gown. I've also made prom dresses and drag queen performance gowns. My favorite thing to make is Aloha Shirts. There's just something about a beautifully turned collar that is so satisfying. If you have a fabric in mind that I can find locally or online, I can make it for you. Turn around time varies from one to four weeks.

Sizing details

I've added generally accepted sizes (small, medium, large, extra large, etc.) to each of the items I've listed. But since every one of my shirts is handmade, and based on vintage sizes, I also measure and make some specific information available. If you see something you like, but you need some extra real numbers (chest size, back length, etc.) feel free to contact me with your questions. I’m no longer accepting returns based on size problems. I think I’ve rectified that by putting all the pertinent measurements at your disposal.

Care instructions

The care instructions are sewn into each garment, or included in a printout for smaller items. I recommend you let your grandmother teach you how to iron if you want to look great in your cotton or linen shirt.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Sure, I'll gift wrap for you and send it off to your loved one. I will add a handling fee for this service.
